puppy fever

growing up outside south korea, all over the world has taught vernon little phrases to get around each country he visited but it doesn’t serve much as a use anymore. he’s lived in seoul for a couple of years but has yet to fully adapt to the circumstances of the culture. he needs himself someone who’ll teach him korean just as he’s willing to teach them english. with this, he usually bothers dongmin a couple times a week polish his korean skills. other than that, vernon sees him as a friend he loves to catch up with.

“okay so i don’t have to study korean today and you don’t need any phrases to know about in english.. is it alright if we go to a dog shelter?” today’s plans are of change. vernon doesn’t go to too many shelters because his parents have prohibited him but that still doesn’t stop him from following his plans. he doesn’t care much about his parents not liking animals. maybe today, he could even pick up a puppy of his own. “we can volunteer, i think that would be nice.”

whoops

sometimes vernon invites jisun over, casually hanging out with some video games on the side! he wasn’t sure what to pick out, considering he had a lack of multiplayer games as he was attached to bloodborne and dark souls. but he’s sure that would excite jisun, maybe some mario kart but that leads to a rivalry. (seriously, video games have shredded some of his friendships on some levels). however, he knows that she won’t be upset about something small. truthfully, he just wants to have fun. “does mario kart sound good?” he brings out the cassette, showing it with his hand.

“or should i pick out some few more other things?” he’s digging through his closet, boxes all over the carpet floor that are scattered with choices of video games. he’s had them since he was a kid, being a packrat was a necessity for him as he wanted to keep his memories intact. “does soul calibur or tekken sound good, jisun?” he doesn’t know but he throws them out on the floor nonchalantly.

date on ice

ice skating isn’t exactly in his list of hobbies but it’s exciting when he gets to try out something new. that isn’t only it, he gets to see jinsoul as she’s not training. he calls it a “hangout” but it’s more than that, a date would be more of the proper term but he isn’t smooth with his words to blurb it out loud. to his shock, he hasn’t been rejected at all but that’s a good sign.

she’s so darn gorgeous, with her smooth long blonde hair and there are times he finds himself staring for too long that he gets lost at the beauty that is jung jinsoul. but he has to hold a grip of himself so he doesn’t fall to his face on the thin sheet on the ice and avoids ending the day with slight red marks or any bruises (other than his legs).

“jinsoul! if you fall, i’ll be the one to pick you up!” he promises, assuring her despite the statement rubbing off as a corny pickup line. oops. crap. that’s not what he was going for (or maybe it was..) but he couldn’t have said it any other way. his tongue is tangled in the korean language, considering he speaks english better. “here, grab my hand!” he reaches his arm out to lock his hand with jinsoul’s.

festive

people often say that new year’s means resolutions but it’s also festive. vernon had received news of a new year’s festival. the event would take place at night so he asked solji to come along. covered in layers to protect himself from the cold, he only hoped he wouldn’t get sick after being out for too long. he’s gotten sick twice this winter, he can’t afford any more cases of flu, colds, or sinuses being affected to stop his plans or take absences from school. he’s even got a scarf to shield his throat from being itchy.

“i look like a puffball with all these layers on, don’t i noona?” he breaks into a short laugh as he looks at the poofy jacket that’s doing its job by keeping him warm. “what should we do first here? maybe get some food?” he’s been saving his appetite for this day. he only had a snack earlier ago but he’s most definitely got his feasting mood on.

virtual reality

vernon finds that playing video games with others more fun than being all by himself. he’s got a large room, so spacious that being left behind in the mansion without his parents gets boring easily. he’s got nothing planned for the day and that means, he has the house to himself excluding the butlers and maids that serve the choi family on their daily lives.

he goes through his contact lists and figured that it’s the right time to hit up momo or is it, actually? the last time he saw her, she was talking about her life as a trainee. that’s where he last picked off and since then, he hasn’t talked to the girl much. needless to say, he misses being around her. at the thought, he enters her number and creates an sms to send. he’d call but he’s pretty sure that would only be a bother.

falling down

[ insert trigger warning: bullies. ]

vernon would like to think of himself as a good friend to those around him but it’s another thing when he finds that minju is aggravated for some reason. she’s quiet which isn’t usually the case for such a friendly girl. he feels that he’s done something to upset her because first off, this was his ridiculous idea. 

sure, vernon, bring an innocent girl to a wild party sounds like a great one.

but there’s no point in standing, doing nothing about it, so he searches for his friend who he let go off from his sight because he just wanted to get a quick drink to quench his dry mouth. eventually, he finds his friends throughout the piles of human bodies crowding the house party and it’s people, messing with his friend. who knows what they could have said to her? what if it was bad?

worried, he steps in the circle to speak up on the behalf of his friend. “let her go, she’s my little sister.” this excuse will surely push away the bullies but he doesn’t want to make a scene that leads to objects in the house being smashed and broken. “minju, are you okay?” he pulls her away from the group of immature boys and girls that aren’t even his friends.

spider-verse

he’s been dying to see the new spider-verse movie that came out not too long ago but vernon doesn’t like going to the movies all by himself, so that’s why he’s called minho to go with him to enjoy. considering he’s the one that bothered his friend, vernon doesn’t mind paying for the tickets. to his surprise, minho agreed on going after vernon asking multiple friends to go, only to say no as they were busy with training or some stuff that involved school. god bless.

he’s read too many comics ever since young that he can’t help but watch every single marvel or dc movie. “did you want popcorn too? it’s on me, no worries.” he assures his friend that he wouldn’t have to pay anything out of his pocket. he’s like a child once again, too eager to see the movie.

bookworm

vernon doesn’t do libraries, he likes that it’s quiet and can find peace in silence but he doesn’t like stuffing a book in his face. ironically, his major he’s chosen had to be sociology but he didn’t know he would sign himself up for so much reading before then. it isn’t too late to switch out to another major but maybe in time, when he feels like it, he will. for now, he’ll enjoy studying about humans and how they interact with each other.

but he likes visiting his hyung to stop by and say hi. there’s some fun he can get out of a good ol’ simple book, different things to read about other than his typical homework. today was a good day to go out and go to the library. “hey youngbin hyung!” he lowers his voice so it doesn’t echo throughout the entire library, but waves at his hyung so he can be noticed within hindsight.
