A Little Tip for Anyone Who Uses Tumblr Tags:
(This is important for everybody I see posting in the tags.)
Please stop making text posts with tags like this: “#Musicals #Boot #Legboot #Bootleg #Video gift #Audio gift #Anastasia #Dear Evan Hansen #DEH #Come From Away #CFA #Spongebob #Spongebob Musical #Spongebob Broadway #Wicked #BMC #Be More Chill #BMC Broadway #Spring Awakening #Deaf West #DWSA #Deaf West Spring Awakening #Mean Girls #MG #Mean Girls Broadway #MG Broadway”
I need every single one of you to know that your posts only show in the first five tags you add to your post. (Tags 6-20 only work on your own blog. Tags 21+ might as well not even be on the post at all.) This means that a post with those above tags will only show under “#Musicals,” “#Boot,” “#Legboot,” “#Bootleg,” and “#Video gift”.
This has been the way Tumblr’s worked for years - I’ve been around since 2011/2012, and only the first five tags have only ever worked for tumblr.com/tagged/whatever+your+tag+is . (It also clutters the page for anyone who uses that “Show all tags on posts by default” option on the Tweaks extension from xKit.)
Maybe the extra tagss show up in the search function, but so does every other post that has any related word (for example, a search for “musical gift” would include posts about music and anyone saying that another person is a gift, or that they got a gift from someone else).
