I have been consumed by thoughts of tamgenia calanmai. Genia is about to have the best night of her life trully. Btw do you have any headcannons about the other courts' equivalent of calanmai?
i love the thought of tamtam goin full beast mode on genia and her experiencing net zero trepidation or fear or anxiety because she trusts every part of him not to hurt her, even when he isn't being gentle with her<3
ooooooo i do! they're kind of more general thoughts than specifics, but maybe i can build them out a bit here. i think all the courts' calanmai equivalents are representative of their individual spheres of influence and go by different names, all under the general scope of the great rite—a communion between the land, the fae who inhabit it, and the mother. i think the solar courts go by the solstices, so night's calanmai is winter solstice because it's the longest night of the year (which is why they festivities span multiple nights), day's calanmai is summer solstice because it's the longest day of the year, and dawn court is uh... tbd :•) sometimes i want to come up with some sort of in-world name equivalences for the seasonal courts, but as of now, i use pagan/wiccan festivals as the names for their calanmai: samhain for autumn (not mabon only because i hc eris born on autumn equinox and i like the thought that a harvesting festival actually gives back life to the land in autumn), litha for summer (which coincides with day's great rite, which is why those courts don't attend one another's), and yule for winter (which nearly coincides with the nc's solstice, so neither of those courts are in attendance for the other's great rite either.) i think this is a cool way to 1) differentiate the cultures of the courts that are grouped together as seasonal vs solar and 2) tie foundational seasonal court lore to witches despite fae being the ruling class now.
for autumn, i hc that there are lots of fun, fay, magical mushrooms that grow throughout the court, so i'd love for those to be incorporated into samhain for them. everyone's kinda trippin out. it's the biggest harvest of the year and all the while beron is reaping his own sorts of fields. his sons are expected to fuck nasty to strengthen the lands, and by god do they. winter i'm picturing lots of ceremonial furs. blood for some reason. i could see them using yule as a fertility festival not only for the land but for themselves as well, since i hc that they have the hardest time conceiving of any fae. not to hornypost my legitimate headcanons but—plenty of cockwarming during yule, plenty of breeding kink material, plenty of fmmm+ orgies. in summer, i'm seeing bonfires on the beach, gemmy stars and a full moon fat on the horizon, salt and citrus on the air, sea creatures from the deep coming up to the shore. is that the high lord? maybe!
oh my other personal favorite headcanon about the great rite—i think all of the creatures of the land participate, even if they don't realize why. all of the woodland creatures, all of the sea creatures, all of the lesser fae. even the flora proliferates. it's about fertility and plenty, baby! that includes everyone and everything! it's just a ~vibe~ on the air ykwim
