I have been hunting vegan cafes in Tokyo. I have actually found a number of very dedicated vegan restaurants and they have wowed me every time, but Cafe The 6BT was a place that shocked me once again.

Cafe The 6BT is located right across the multilane wide road from Mercedes Benz cafe just outside Tokyo Midtown building, also a few minutes walk from Nogizaka Station and I have always known and been curious about this little stylish food place.

I was searching for Vegan cafes in Tokyo and I have recently discovered that Cafe The 6BT is dedicated and they strictly serve only vegan dishes, no animal source of protein is cooked in the cafe.

I was amazed to learn that and dropped by for lunch as they open at 11:30am.

I even love the look of it from outside, don’t you? I wouldn’t have guessed they were a vegan cafe!

They don’t promote vegan diet or healthy lifestyle everywhere in and outside the cafe so you wouldn’t notice until you look into the menu closely that they are a vegan place.

The cafe is so stylish inside and what surprised me most was that the types of people there. Couple, family, worker, young, old, group or by themselves… I have actually never seen a place loved by such a wide variety of customers so it was really comfortable to see it.

It was my first time trying out a proper vegan ramen. 1,490JPY for a lunch set.

Well balanced, very tasty appetiser.

Sweet potato with soy mayonnaise, soy meat and stirred veggies, miso dipped eggplant and corn soup, everything was just right!

I had a soy milk based ramen, I guessed the minced meat looking thing on top is soy meat too.

It was – probably needless to say, and you can maybe – already guess but, the lightest ramen I had. It was almost like a healthy noodle you can get with a lot of vegetables in it, but it was magically filling.

It was almost like – I have been to many great vegan places… then boom! here comes the Cafe The 6BT. It was beautiful indeed.

Milan Nataraj is certainly my favorite place to go for lunch. When you search for “organic” “vegetarian” place to eat lunch in Shibuya, Milan Nataraj is there for you.

At night they serve simple curry and nan or rice dinner and it is a bit costly (additional fee applies for rice or nan), I would totally recommend the curry buffet you can eat only during lunch hour (11:30am-3:00pm).

You can have their organic handmade nan (veggie and plain) and turmeric rice as well as 4 different types of curry (usually 3 vegan + one vegetarian), it is sheerly heavenly and costs only 1,080JPY too!

They use vegetables grown in their farm in Chiba prefecture in the curry and they are everyone’s favorite (I obviously take a lot of people here), of course the mild pumpkin curry which contains milk (the only lacto vegetarian choice) is lovely and it’s great to sometimes calm down the fevered mouth with milky paste.

Milan Nataraj Shibuya is just a few minutes walk from Shibuya station and a few buildings next to the huge Tower Record so it is very easy to find.

It’s a bit far from where I work so it takes a bit of courage to go there for lunch but whenever I do, it’s always worth it!

TrueBerry is a little cozy smoothie stand in Omotesando. As one of the three TrueBerry stores in Tokyo, Omotesando cafe has newly opened on 15th July and it is run by the lovely Mayo and Naoko.

We had a spontaneous fun photo session! How sweet and generous of them. Thanks so much for letting me take photos of every part of the cafe…

  They have beautiful organic things every here and there in there. I didn’t have much time so I could only have a cup of smoothie (The best smoothie, ever by the way), but they have entirely vegan and organic meals, they also were about to start a vegan curry from the next day… I missed it by one day! I will go back soon for it :)

You can customise your smoothie and they would freshly squeeze and make smoothie and cold press juice right at the spot in the kitchen that doesn’t cook meat or seafood.

The smoothie I had – Berry Green which contains a list of berries and veggies, was very rich even without using dairy and it was purely a mixture of all the good things fruit and veggies have to offer… and it tasted just fabulous.

I cannot wait to eat vegan lunch there on a weekend!
