Everyone has a fear or dislikes something they don’t normally talk about, or even mention. It could be a completely every day, common thing but it would still trigger an unpleasant feeling in an individual, with or without reason.
Riding an elevator was on the list of dislikes Yura had, even towards the top of the issues she struggled with. The small, often overly stuffed box which could stop working any time, gave her an unsafe feeling, so she always took the stairs if it was possible - but tonight she decided to overcome her fear and take the elevator, mostly because it was already late and she’d save herself walking up the empty stairway.
There she was, standing in the corner with a heavy heart, trying to look as relaxed as possible, which became a problem a moment after when the elevator came to a stop on the fourth floor. The female could be overly paranoid, picturing serial killers suddenly walking in, so when a young looking boy stepped inside, she felt a wave of relief wash through her, suddenly feeling so stupid to even come up with those morbid scenarios. On a funny side note, he walked in backwards, waving at someone who was probably standing in the hallway, saying good bye loudly and not noticing the girl standing behind him, so she didn’t say anything either. Once the door closed, he reached over to press the button of his wanted floor, accidentally stepping on her foot which finally caused her to let out a sound, more specifically a pained ‘hey!’ She did not expect him to react this wildly, nearly losing his balance and jumping on the other side of the elevator with a screech of surprise. “Oh– sorry,” a sheepish smile appeared on her face at his reaction, feeling bad for scaring him. “I didn’t mean to startle you on purpose, my bad. But I am glad someone joined me, this way if the elevator breaks down, I’ll at least have company, ha ha.”
elevators belonged on the list of things that jongdae didn’t quite trust. living in an apartment meant that he had to get used to them, but it didn’t make him any more comfortable. perhaps it was the lack of space, or maybe it was more due to all the elevator-based horror movies and stories he had been shown; either way, he preferred to take the stairs when he had enough energy to hop up a few flights. (and, even if he didn’t, he’d usually force himself to slump up them and take some rests between floors.)
whenever he was with a friend, though, he would try his best to muster up the bravery to take the elevator both ways just to avoid any questions as to why he’d walk all the way to the nth floor. it wasn’t so bad with company, he supposed, since every horror situation he had seen or read had never involved a friend -- it was either no company or a stranger, he could recall.
that was why he was more than a little worried to go in one on his own, shouting a farewell to a friend and trying to not stumble as he walked backwards. fortunately, he managed to make his way into the confined space without any embarrassing tripping, humming proudly as he prodded the button for his floor, just a few off of the one they were on. stepping back further into the elevator, jongdae was almost ready to go into cardiac arrest from the shock of a voice behind him. screeching and jumping away, jongdae quickly raised his hands to either side of his head; a lazy, terrified sign of peace. when he saw the source of the noise to only be a girl whom he hadn’t noticed, though, one hand dropped to his side and the other ran through his hair, visibly embarrassed. “uh, don’t worry ‘bout it,” he mumbled in response to her apology. at the mention of a breakdown, jongdae’s eyes widened and his head jerked up before trying to act it off with a quiet laugh. “i’m only going a few floors, so, you know--” he must have spoken too soon, as the elevator jolted to a stop before he could even finish his sentence. “... well, shit.”
