#not to be alarmist#or dramatic or anything#but I'm convinced the corona virus#has spread to South Africa#and we just haven't diagnosed any cases#like so many people at work#(I work in a tourist adjacent sector)#have this persistent cold/flu-like thing for the past few weeks#and it's mid summer here#i.e. not our cold season#as always we've had a lot of French tourists this season#but also a higher number of Italians and Brazilians#and I know a lot of South Africans who were in China and Hong Kong in November/early Dec.#that was like the go-to destination for some reason#over the holidays#.. anyway..#I know we'll be fine#I've been taking my flu and asthma meds and that seems to help#so I'm not panicking at all#but I do find it very worrisome that we have no officially confirmed cases#like#is our government and health infrastructure prepared ?#don't think so...#and that's concerning
