So, I kinda wanna talk about a part of the miraculous universe that we both don't seem to know a lot about(that I can find at any rate) and that is kinda an unpopular thing just in general: the non-miraculous, non-magical superheroes. Specifically the ones that don't have any explanations at all for there powers. Like, the ones who we know are aliens, the one we know for sure is a robot, etc, those have explanations that show why they're the exception to the previously accepted idea of "heroes have a miraculous", they're less grating to people I think.
But like.... There's just a dude in the New York special that has plant based superpowers. Zero explanation as to where he got them. We must assume some kind of more classic comic book origin like he was born with them, or he got them in a lab accident.
And that's not even discussing Doorman. Whose just opening door based portals for no discernable reason.
I notice most AU's just flat up ignore that these non-miraculous heroes exist, or expressly state that they don't because the author doesn't like the inconsistency they add to the setting. Which, I do understand why people do that and I'm in no way criticizing it, getting consistency for the story you want to tell is great, but I personally feel like the implication of other superhumans existing is interesting to explore.
For one thing, I think superhero stories are fun because they let you pretty seamlessly combine things like sci-fi and magic into a modern setting in a more organic manner, so I don't want to just cut out what I feel like is a staple of the genre.
But more specifically for miraculous as a whole, the existence of other superhumans opens up so many interesting directions. Not the least of which is exploring what giving a miraculous to a person who already has powers would do.
Also though, the existence of heroes in New York who at least some of which were likely born with their powers implies that other places in the world could have natural born supers. And the first place that takes me is Paris, and all the potential stories that could create.
Hell, Luka is in Paris, and he's definitely got superpowers already, his Empathic ability is described more mystically, but whatever its origin that is a classic textbook superpower.
But thinking about Paris having at least one or two native superhumans got me thinking that it would be interesting to explore the reaction of someone with superpowers to Hawkmoth attacking the city, but also Ladybug and Chat.
Imagine you've had powers your whole life, but you've kept them hidden for your own protection. Then one day a madman bursts onto the scene creating supervillians and you are locked in indecision, do you expose yourself to fight this monster? But then two heroes appear and start that fight without you. Heroes who make it no secret that these powers aren't things they're born with, but burdens they take on for the good of the city.
And then you watch. Day after day. As these people, who despite the Kwantic masking you can tell aren't that old, risk their lives for this city. Over and over. Sometimes, Chat even Dies for Paris. Oh sure, he comes back, ladybug saves him, but he still died. And one day, miracle Cure might not be in time.
And then even more literal children join the fight, even more people who have no reason but their own hearts accept a burden and responsibility they do not have to, all to protect this city and keep it's people safe. And you just sit there, power in your very blood. Asking yourself how long you'll wait until you'll find the same courage that unpowered children have to stand up and fight. To put yourself into a battle you were born for That's been handled by children with artifacts the enemy desires.
I just have to wonder how long until a person has their spiderman moment. A "great power and great responsibility" moment to step in and help. I'd imagine it would be the first time Chat dies.
Taking it another direction though, you could also see a hero who notices that chat and ladybug only focus on hawkmoth, even on their patrols, and is inspired by the heroes of Paris to fight the more normal criminal element. Only, ironically, ladybug and chat would probably discourage that. Citing both the lack of a miraculous(making them less durable, and easier to discover the identity of) and because what they're doing is illegal vigilantism, and they don't magic away the injuries they leave on both perpetrators and on the victims or other collateral damage. You can argue that this is hypocritical of the duo, but ladybug and chat only fight the evil magic man, they don't try to do the police's job with mundane criminals, they only fight the things the cops can't. So they are kinda different from a vigilante.
Just.... There's a lot of interesting stories, even multiple different au ideas, that playing with the idea of other supers can bring. And I'm probably going to be exploring that at some point.
Note: Champions AU does not have superhumans beyond Kwami and other related spirits. Just doesn't fit that setting. False Heroes I'm not fully sure on yet.
