lucy adjusted her blazer for had to be the third time in the short walk it took from her car to the scene. she didn't miss the patrol uniform in the slightest, nor was it the first time she has worn plain clothes on the job, but this was her first case as an official detective. one last tug at the lapel, she set forth. her eyes landed on a strange man hovering around the csi. what was patrol doing not protecting the barricade? she thought as her steps quickened forward. "excuse me, sir," she called out. "you can't be here. this is an active crime scene."

"this is what i wanted, this is what i like," lucy assured. "i've been a good, good girl for a long time. it's kind of exhilerating to deviate a little."

"there's no point in being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes." childish might be an overstatement, but having a similar lively spirit. so what if lucy liked to make videos of her belting a song or two and posting it on social media? with her high stress job, it was good to have a healthy release.

lucy closed her tired eyes, rubbing them. she's certain she read the same paragraph three times already, and yet there was still no leads in sight. inhaling a deep breath, she perks up. either she had reached the hallucination stage of sleep deprivation, or there was fresh coffee nearby. opening her eyes, she is immediately greeted by the steaming cup. her gaze lifts to lauren's face and flashes her a grateful smile. "sweet, beautiful, lovely cousin of mine— please tell me that's for me."
