Pokemon: Shiny vs. Default, 0016-0018

Well, we’re done with the early-game Bugs, now onto something that falls off almost as hard!

First up, Pidgey!

Anyone remember when Shiny Pidgey was a meme? Yeah, me neither. Still, I’m giving it to the default again. The more yellow look could work, but the actual tones used are kinda... vomit-y. Not exactly winning any prizes here.

Next up, Pidgeotto!

Probably my favourite of the line. The added gold on its crest and tail feathers distracted from the mucus-y main body a bit, but not really enough. Default again.

Now for Pidgeot.

Okay, that’s better. Dropping the unpleasant green-yellow shade for a more saturated brown works, the more vibrant yellow underside does too. The orange and yellow on its crest and tail blend in with the body a bit too much, but that’s not enough to stop me awarding the win to the shiny form.

And finally for today, Mega Pidgeot!

As Megas go, not my favourite, but still a pretty decent design, and, let’s be honest, sorely needed. They really need to bring back Megas just because they helped older Pokemon stave off the power-creep. In any case, the colours are largely the same as before, with the sold changes of the wingtips and the specific shades for the crest feathers. The yellow and orange are a little more differentiated, and the indigo wingtips look great, so I’m going to give this to the shiny again, bringing the overall results for today to an even 2/2 split!
