Ditto is capable of copying an enemy's genetic code instantly and rearranging and recombining its own cellular structure to match that of an enemy, and while most transformations are perfect, each Ditto has its own weaknesses with certain things, meaning that the quality of some transformations will differ from Ditto to Ditto.
When it sleeps, it transforms into a rock to stay safe.
If you can make a Ditto laugh, you will be able to force it to revert to its normal form.
Ditto get along with other creatures easily, but they do not get along with other Ditto, and when they encounter another Ditto, they begin a competition to transform into another Pokemon faster and better than the other.
If a Ditto tries to transform into something based on memory, it will likely get some parts of the transformation wrong.
