The Ealdor episode is sooo important because for the first time, Arthur gets to understand were Merlin came from, about his past, what drove him to Camelot

And while Merlin is still a mystery to him, he got to know about Merlin so much

He had to learn that he was privileged and other people didn't have beds, you sleep on the floor. They don't have meals 3 times a day and it's nothing fancy, it's just what's there. If you have a problem with someone, try to avoid them because really, you can't.

It was a small village but they all looked out for each other. And still for some reason... Merlin didn't fit in
