Discouraged
Feeling a little discouraged today. Not seeing the results I was hoping for. Barely seeing any at all and it's almost been two weeks. Now I know a lot of you are rolling your eyes and saying, exactly.. Only two weeks, but it's hard to see long term goals met when I'm not even seeing anything yet. :/ I've got about six months to get 40lbs off this body of mine. Got two weddings to be apart of and I wanna look good. That's a no brainier. I'm gonna be seeing people I haven't seen since I had kids, and let's just say I wanna look great, even better than before so they don't scowl at me with disgust. I definitely don't want them thinking 'dang, she's let herself go' even tho that is a fair statement as of now. I guess I need to suck it up, do the work outs, eat healthy and slowly I'll see the results.. Even if it does seem long, I guess working hard for a couple months to get the results is worth it than throwing the towel in and feeling like a pile for the rest of my life.
February 1816
Thursday, okay. DEAR was basically chilling with Ms. Mel. But we mostly talked with her about the upcoming defense. Then I kinda slept through Science when I was not even able to understand a thing about the lesson. When I woke up, we were doing an exercise or something, nice. Math was hilarious because there were observers so Ms. O was extra extra today but Math became fun in a way. And honestly, she is just so good at teaching Math. Recess came and people were rushing to the library to print their song lyrics for the singing contest. While Cz and I chilled there as high school students. Fave line, “Ang hindi magsulat dito, papatayin ko.” Arts was up yet we all just did our performance task in AP. I know it was rude but we had no choice. Calculus was next and I think I just crewed up my last quiz in it. I am so pissed. We hurried at lunch and was back at the classroom and went back to doing our performance task in AP. The room was so busy. AP was the subject after lunch and we just had a voter’s education and there were tiny observers at the back. Finally, singing contest was up. Sir Joshua, our English teacher, was one of the judges so we went to the AVR to watch. The 8th Grade’s contest was still on going so we watched them and our grade’s was next. Jobelle sang first then Karlo who was so bloody fine while singing We Don’t Believe What’s on TV. Unfortunately, we were kicked out before we even knew it. Desperate times call for desperate measures and that statement basically describes what we were all up to earlier just to watch our classmates perform. At first I ran so fast when Sir Neil was like, “Ano SJB, mapagdesisyon?” and then we all vented to Ms. Jujie and it was all hilarious. Then we were called to watch and was blocked out again. We stayed outside and once again, I ran so fast when Sir Neil went out. That was the last attempt. We had SAP for the last subject and I just slept. Looked for teachers to sign my enrichment form and went home tiringly. I need this month to end.

Malcolm X’s Black Nationalism
A lecture series occuring every Thursday in February on Malcolm X with the one and only Mick Ward II. In Mick's own words: My intention is to present Malcolm X qua Malcolm X by engaging with him on his own terms by focusing on his texts. By texts I simply mean his speeches, interviews, debates, autobiography, journal, and etc. The purpose of this approach is to familiarize people with what Malcolm actually said and to demonstrate what a dynamic, funny, and powerful thinker and speaker he was. In turn, people will be able to engage with many of the misleading, and wrong-headed interpretations of Malcolm. Each lecture will stand on it’s own and I will assume that no one is familiar with the material. I will offer a summary of the texts that I recommend for each week, although any person in attendance will benefit greatly from reading (or listening to) the material before the scheduled lecture. I mostly use speech’s that are printed in the book Malcolm X Speaks edited by George Breitman although these same speeches (and more) are available online in unabridged form here: [http://malcolmxfiles.blogspot.ca/]. What follows is a brief look at what will be discussed:
February 18th: Malcolm X’s Black Nationalism The third lecture will cover Malcolm X’s departure from the Nation of Islam following his remarks on JFK’s assassination at the end of 1963. Malcolm declares his independence from the NOI and begins to articulate his own brand of Black Nationalism. I will explain the shifts in his philosophy as well as the elements that remain the same such as his dedication to revolutionary analysis. Recommended: ‘A Declaration of Independence’ and ‘The Ballot or the Bullet’ speech
