VERSE OF THE DAY:
ROMANS 12:10
Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.
LET'S LOVE PEOPLE WELL
You were created for community. When God designed humans, he made us with intention of placing us within a loving family. Today, we call that family the Church.
God's original intention was that we would exist within a family of other believers. He didn't intend for us to exist in isolation or be separated from other people. Life was not meant to be lived alone.
Regardless of what your family experience was like, God intended for His family to be loving and caring. And it's th e qualities of God's family that Paul is writing about in Romans 12. Paul says to be devoted to one another in love. That means that we are to walk alongside other people through the various seasons of life. We should never abandon people when life gets hard.
Paul also encourages us to honor others. Instead of pursuing what seems best for us, we should seek the good of other people first.
Devotion and honor are just two aspects of loving people well, but Jesus said that the world will recognize us as His disciples by the way that we love. This means that we have to genuinely love others-not just pretend to love them. And the place we need to start showing genuine honor is within our spiritual family. Rather than letting self-promotion divide the family of God, our goal should be to honor those around us.
If we won't learn how to love people who follow Jesus, then we won't know how to love people who don't.
That's why we should frequently pause and take an assessment on how we are doing at loving others. So take a moment right now to think about the ways in which you loved and honored people this past week. Write down two or three things you can do to continue to show love to those in your life.
SHARE YOUR FAITH
How have you shown love and honor to the people in your life this past week? How do you want this coming week to be different?
Jesus constantly put others ahead of Himself-to the point of laying down His life. Now, we can reflect His character by striving to love like Him.
Jesus, thank You for showing me what unconditional love looks like. It's because You love me deeply that You aks me to love others deeply. Please help me with this. Show me how to love others like You have loved me. Bring to my mind ways that I can honor others, and then help me to do with gladness and joy. in Jesus' name, Amen.
ROMANS 5:5
And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
What we place our hope in influences our ability to endure difficult times. If we cling to something that is taken from us, our lives will crumble.
What does placing your hope in God mean to you? Share with God whatever comes to mind.
JOHN 15:16
You didn't choose me. I chose you. I appointer you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.
God chose you. Allow God to encourage you as you talk to Him about what you need.
God, when I think about all that You've done for me, I am overwhelmed with thanks. You are so good and kind to me! Thank You for being my steady source of hope and joy. You are worthy to be praised at all times, in every situation! In Jesus' name, Amen.

the leading priests and the elders made their accusations against him, Jesus remained silent. Jesus made no response to any of the charges, much to the governor’s surprise.
JEREMIAH 31:1-4, 7, 9
HOPE FOR RESTORATION
1“In that day,” says the Lord, “I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they will be my people. 2This is what the Lord says:
“Those who survive the coming destruction
will find blessings even in the barren land,
for I will give rest to the people of Israel.”
3Long ago the Lord said to Israel:
“I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love.
With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.
4I will rebuild you, my virgin Israel.
You will again be happy
and dance merrily with your tambourines.
7Now this is what the Lord says:
“Sing with joy for Israel.
Shout for the greatest of nations!
Shout out with praise and joy:
‘Save your people, O Lord,
the remnant of Israel!’
9Tears of joy will stream down their faces,
and I will lead them home with great care.
They will walk beside quiet streams
and on smooth paths where they will not stumble.
For I am Israel’s father,
and Ephraim is my oldest child.
INSIGHT
God disciplined His chosen people because of their unfaithfulness. Jerusalem was destroyed and the Israelites exiled to Babylon (Jeremiah 1:14-16; 5:15-19; 6:22-23; 25:9-11). But once the discipline was complete, God brought them back from exile (30:8-17), restored their privileges as His chosen nation (vv. 18-24), and, most important, restored the people to Himself (ch. 31). He did this because of His special love and unmerited mercy. God is “Israel’s father and [Israel] is [his] firstborn son” (v. 9). He assured them, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness” (v. 3). God’s discipline isn’t inconsistent with His love, for “the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in” (Proverbs 3:12). We can be assured that God loves us and pursues us with His everlasting love.

GOD'S ETERNALLY BELOVED
One of the most dramatic and mysterious love letters of all time was penned by composer Ludwig van Beethoven and was only discovered after his death in 1827. The hastily handwritten letter is full of passionate lines like, “My eternally beloved . . . I can only live either wholly with you or not at all.” Tragically, it appears the letter was never sent, and his intended recipient remains unknown.
Beethoven’s letter is treasured by readers who can identify with his desperate yearning for love. We seek love and fulfillment in many people, things, and experiences that cannot fully satisfy. But far greater than a fleeting romance is the love of God for His covenant people, to whom He showed great love for the sake of all people. Through the prophet Jeremiah, God declared, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness” (Jeremiah 31:3). Because of His great love, God promised a future of rest and favor (v. 2) and the restoration of anything that was broken (v. 4). Despite their repeated rejection and rebellion, God vowed to bring them back to Himself (v. 9).
Many years later, that same everlasting love motivated Jesus to endure death for sinners, even before we ever returned His love (Romans 5:8). We don’t have to search for love or try to earn it. We’re already loved with an everlasting love!

REFLECT AND PRAY
In what ways do you look for love on earth? How has God demonstrated His eternal love to you?
Loving God, I’m so grateful for the way You pursue me with an everlasting love. in Jesus' name, Amen.
ALL THE FEELS - LEADING OUR EMOTIONS
APATHETHIC
Do you feel distracted, numb, or disappointed with all life has thrown at you? Maybe you’ve noticed the fire + passion you once lived with has dwindled. Your prayers might be shorter, it’s harder to connect with people, and you’re not as excited about things. This feeling has a name; apathy.
It creeps in over time and is a dangerous place to stay. I say this not to scare you, but to give a holy warning. When we become desensitized to our emotions, detached from God and people, it’s a foothold for the enemy to take ground in our hearts + lives. Wake up, don’t let him!
Apathy can be difficult to navigate, but the Lord doesn’t leave us alone. There’s a story in the Bible about the Church in Laodicea that Jesus calls “lukewarm,” neither hot nor cold. Jesus says, “Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” (Revelation 3:19-20, NIV)
Can you hear Him knocking at the door of your heart? Invite Him in, allow Him to breathe life back into your bones, awaken your soul, + restore your joy. The God who raised Jesus from the dead lives in You so you could have life to the fullest.
Call someone today + be honest about what you’re feeling. Make sure it’s someone who can speak life, challenge, and encourage you as you begin to open your heart up to the Lord again.
REVELATION 3:14-20
“I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold.
I will spit you out of my mouth! So I advise you to buy gold from me—gold that has been purified by fire. Then you will be rich. Also buy white garments from me so you will not be shamed by your nakedness, and ointment for your eyes so you will be able to see. 19I correct and discipline everyone I love. So be diligent and turn from your indifference. “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. 21Those who are victorious will sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on his throne.
3 THESSALONIANS 3:13
13As for the rest of you, dear brothers and sisters, never get tired of doing good.
EPHESIANS 4:17-19
17With the Lord’s authority I say this: Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused. 18Their minds are full of darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because they have closed their minds and hardened their hearts against him. 19They have no sense of shame. They live for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice every kind of impurity.
ROMANS 12:11-12
11Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. 12Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.
2 TIMOTHY 1-6-7
6This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. 7For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
HEBREWS 6:11-12
11Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. 12Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance.
