i needed two cortisone injections in my spine. there’s steroids in the injection, and steroids are dangerous for diabetics because they can attack the kidneys and also causes the blood glucose to raise to ridiculous levels. since getting home from the procedure (3:00pm), my blood sugar has been in the 500s, and only about an hour ago (2:30am), did I get it down into the 300s, but it’s staying pretty consistent there, no matter how much insulin i keep adding. high blood sugar makes me extremely thirsty, makes me have to pee repeatedly every 15-20 minutes (the body is trying to get rid of the sugar through the urine), and i have terrible acid reflux during high blood sugar nightmares ugh. i just wanna sleeeeep. the gag? my back doesn’t feel much better right now; however, they said it may take 72 hours for the pain to fully subside, so let’s see how this goes. i’m not regretting doing it because it was about time to try something other than physical therapy (for 8 years), but damn it sucks to have to deal with this backlash to my diabetes. especially after i’ve worked so hard to get my A1C in the low 7’s. hopefully this will stop soon, and my blood sugars will regulate cause this has been exhausting, and it’s only been 12 hours since getting home. 😣
