Song of the Day
&& we have reached the last of #marchforireland. I hope you enjoyed the music I shared this month. Ireland has a variety of music && it’s always fascinating to me how migration && different influxes of cultures will birth new sounds. It happens everywhere && it’s fascinating for me as a music junkie to discover new music.
For today, I want to share the last song for this segment by Niall Horan. I really think people were sleeping on Niall when he was a part of One Direction. I have had the fortune of watching him live && he was so much fun. His voice has truly matured && his sound can fit many genres that will for sure keep GP engaged. I had an interesting text convo a few days ago && one of the people on there kept talking about how the music industry is all about money && Niall’s singles had fell off the charts && bombed. Here’s my take on it && I stand by my opinion. If I’m going to measure Niall’s music to charting music, then yeah he’s going to bomb. Why? The genre for charting music is definitely anything hip-hop. This turn of the century has hip-hop ruling the charts in some shape or another.
However, there is still a huge demographic that supports rock, folk, country etc… You don’t believe me? Check out Stage Coach in the summer. The music celebrated by hundreds if not thousands at this annual festival in LA. There’s still a large crowd. I didn’t agree at all with that person because the standards they were using didn’t apply to Niall in the least. It’s like trying to say that a band like Tool is not successful because their music is not charting. That’s probably the stupidest statement to make because Tool can shut down any venue && have fantastic resources because they fucking sell or attract concert goers. Niall may not be charting at the level that Drake does; however, he can still pull a following. He has obviously fared well in the alternative rock stations, country stations, pop stations, soft-rock stations etc….
So, here’s my favorite song of Niall Horan.
Enjoy!
hey baby
i feel weird. i want to get a new cat, because i love cats and i loved the shit out of you, but i don’t want anyone to feel like we’re replacing you. you matter so much to me, even though you’re gone, and while i love all cats and i miss being able to cuddle with you, i don’t know if it’s too soon to get a new cat.
there’s also the issue that i don’t know where i’ll be living next year. don’t hate me, but i’m staying in state. i’ll get up north eventually, don’t worry, but i’d rather get done with my degree and then move. i’m tired of waiting. i want to do something other than be in college, ya know?
i kind of think august would make a good cat. i think she’s been declawed on her front paws, which sucks, because that’s painful for her and it means she can’t really go outside. she’s also really friendly. i know you didn’t like her, so don’t get jealous. i just really like cats in general. (you’re still my favourite, of course)
i don’t know. i feel like i’m stuck in between where i am and where i want to be. i miss you. i love you, too. i wish i could just have you around, and not have to make these decisions
