Barboach's whiskers are extremely sensitive, allowing it to detect prey in muddy water or taste and smell things just as good as a person could.

Barboach live in muddy waters to hide themselves, burrowing in the mud bed with just their whiskers exposed to detect prey.

Because of the slimy film covering Barboach's body, they are very hard to grab, and this has actually led to competitions where people try to catch as many Barboach as they can barehanded.

Should Barboach's slimy film dry up, they will grow weak and eventually get sick, as the slime is also a barrier to protect against diseases.

In some regions, it is said that Barboach were born from hardened mud.
