when did Jerome and Esme actually get married? the two letters R sends Kit from the Vineyard of Fragrant D(G)rapes in the Unauthorised Autobiography seem to take place around the same time and imply that Olaf is planning an attack on Lemony and Beatrice but also that Jerome and Esme's wedding is impending. Could they have been married for 15 years??

The datation of Jerome’s and Esme’s marriage can be infered from several documents in Lemony Snicket’s un-Authorized Autobiography:
Geraldine Julienne plays matchmaker with Jerome and Esme shortly after Eleonora Poe fires the Daily Punctillo’s replacement for Lemony for the dramatic critic position. This is most likely Jacques, who got into trouble after he reported the murder of Foreman Firstein. So Esme would have to seduce Jerome some time between “The Wide Window” and “The Miserable Mill”.
Jacques learns of Jerome’s engagement shortly after escaping Paltryville where he reported the death of Foreman Firstein. So the marriage seems to have been planned after “The Wide Window”.
Jerome tells Jacques that the 667 Dark Avenue has a new doorman (Fernald) immediately after he got married. Fernald can’t very well act as the doorman and Dr. O. Lucafont at the same time. So the marriage would have to happen at least after “The Reptile Room”.
All in all the clues do add up. I’d say Esme and Jerome got married during “The Miserable Mill”. Since the Quagmire fire happens after “The Reptile Room”, this also means Esme had taken care of the Quagmire estate long before she ever met Jerome, which would explain why Jerome doesn’t seem to know she has ties to the estate.
