Just a little reminder, vigilance is great, paranoia not so much ;) (if you don’t catch my meaning wait til halfway through the vid). Don’t let these books make you too nutty looking for conspiracies.
I was not overly surprised by the ending of The Handmaid’s tale. This story has a lot of ambiguity in it, and of course there’s a lot left unsaid. From the fact that there is a historical record of her she must have lived at least long enough to leave one. It seems unlikely the Eyes would have found it necessary to record a Handmaid’s confession or biography so I believe she was spirited out by Mayday. However I sincerely doubt Luke was still alive to be reunited with, and find the idea that they could spirit her daughter out (or that her daughter would even be receptive to the idea) even more unlikely. So I think she ended her days free but lonely basically.
I have started The Road and I must say I am not a fan of the writing style. I can understand the attraction I suppose, but I think this one just isn’t for me. I imagine it did translate fairly well to film and am actually looking forward to the movie more than the book I’m ashamed to say.
