Heya Snicketsleuth! This isn't really a question, but I thought I'd share anyway - when my young self was waiting for ?2 to come out, I tried to anagram everything from the first book and discovered that Stain'd-by-the-Sea is an anagram of "Hide, nasty beast" (and "I, the sandy beast" too, actually.) Do you think this was an intentional anagram, or was young me trying a bit too hard to find clues? And could there be more "unnofficial" anagrams like these that haven't been referenced in the text?

Anything’s possible with Handler, but I suppose that if he had really bothered coming up with this anagram, it would have showed up in the text. Seems kind of a waste otherwise.

“Hide, nasty beast” is excellent. It’s long been speculated that one of Sunny’s words in “The Hostile Hospital” is actually a complicated anagram:

“Pietrisycamollaviadelrechiotemexity,” Sunnysaid, which you will probably recall means something along the lines of “I must admit I don’t have thefaintest idea of what is going on.” Sunny had now said this particular thing three times over the course of herlife, and she was beginning to wonder if this was something she was only going to say more and more asshe grew older.[The Hostile Hospital, Chapter Nine]

Nobody has ever been able to crack that word down, however. Maybe it’s Daniel Handler’s homage to the Sherman brothers’ “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” ?
