예뻤어 (You Were Beautiful)

It was supposed to be another day at work, another day meeting with yet another vendor. Who would’ve thought?

“Let me introduce Jungwoo. He will be the lead scientist for this project, also the person in charge for communication from our side throughout this particular project. Please do not hesitate ”

4 years. 

4 years of no contact since our break up and now he appeared again out of nowhere. 

And so we ended up with cups of coffee in our hands, sitting face to face after the official meeting was done. 

“So, how have you been?” he started “You moved company?”

“Same old, same old, Jungwoo. But I definitely do better in this company. Never thought I would see you again this way, though”

“I’m really sorry for what I did. I truly hope that you end up happier after that”

I don’t even know how to respond to that. What? Kiss and make up?

“You were beautiful, you know?” then he quickly corrected himself, “I mean, you’re still beautiful now! It’s just that there were happiness from you when we were together.”

“And your point is?”

“I’m not saying we should get back together again. Those times have passed.” he took a long sip of his coffee, “Can we at least be friends? I mean, we were also friends before we dated”

“You know? Those days after you broke up with me were the worst. But okay. Let’s start with at least being civil through this project.”
