I think I have come to the point of acceptance. I know that I need to accept what’s happening, let it be and move on. I also know that if this was forever; then it would’ve worked itself out. I am a firm believer of the saying ‘things happen for a reason’... I am not quite sure why this happened but I know it was necessary and no, I am not bitter; but I am hopeful... that we both learned a great lesson. I will never ever forget him, his family and what they have done for me and I will for sure never stop loving him.

Advance English Grammar 101

Today’s class lecture, I have learned so many words like “irregardless” which means irrespective + regardless, though irregardless is a real word it is not a standard english so some can’t use it but in some movies they commonly use irregardless. Next is the word “biennial”, which means it happens every two years it is different from biannual because biannual only happens twice a year. There’s also “inasmuch as” which used to limit or gives more specific informations about what you have just said. We have discussed how to correct ungrammatical sentences it also lead us to these words that some are quite unfamiliar to me and truly, they exist. In the activity I got zero hehehe but its okay I’ll try it again next time and I’ll make sure to aim for a highest score! ☺🤞 We have discussed also the meaning of language that, it is a system of arbitrary sounds and symbols used in human communication, the meaning of grammar that for ma'am claire, is the whole system of language that composed of many things just like phonology, syntax, morphology, semantics and pragmatics which is the meaning in context. Of course there are types of grammar which is known until to this day that is the Universal Grammar which was theorize by Noam Chomsky that explains that there is a one true grammar for all. For example, ‘I am Cielita’ 'Ako si Cielita’ 'Watashiwa Cielita des’ this explains that all of this sentences have a noun, pronoun etc. that makes this sentences all correct regardless of its differences. Next is the Descriptive and Prescriptive Grammar, the descriptivist only describe how language is actually used while prescriptivist prescribe a more standard language that should be used. Another are the Grammaticality and Acceptability example is: “Colorless green ideas sleeps furiously” these sentence is grammatical correct in because of how it is used however, it is not acceptable because there is no such thing as “Colorless green ideas sleeps furiously”. The last is the World Englishes theory, a theory by Braj Kachry, explains that 'no one nation can actually claim english’ and there is no standard english. World Englishes theory is composed of 3 circles which are the inner circle, outer circle and extending circle. The inner circle composed of people having their first language is English, the outer circle composed of people having their English as a second language and the extending circle which composed of people having their English as their foreign language. So why is this important? It is important because we need to know more about what is our English and how are we going to correct one’s grammar. Looking forward to more advanced english grammar!! ☺😁
