Did Sinestral Manor today with my mystic on Highwatch. Went in twice and managed to get her to level 31!
I tend to go into dungeons with kind of a business-ish mindset. Meaning that I go in to do what I need to do so I can move the story along. There are times when I go into dungeons and have fun, which is great because doing dungeons should be fun. My first run in Sinestral Manor was actually quite fun.
There were four of us. Two priests, a mystic (me), and a warrior. I’d gone in before with two healers, I believe, but this time I was a healer too. And basically, that run went pretty smoothly. There were three of us to do the healing so if anyone’s hp got low, one of us three healers would heal the other. And if one of the healers got hurt while healing, I’d stop attacking to heal them. But essentially, I think the two priests sort of took turns healing and attacking. We had each other’s backs, and tbh I thought it was pretty great. I think I’d like to someday do a dungeon run with all healers. Just to see how that goes. I’m pretty sure we could do it. Like at least have two mystics in there or something, idk.
One of the healers wound up dying toward the end while fighting the boss. And I think our warrior died also so while one of the healers rezzed her, the other healer and I killed off the boss. Funnily, the healer that had rezzed the warrior wound up somehow dying just before we killed the boss--idk how because I was too busy attacking--so I rezzed him after it was all over. So only two deaths that run.
Sorta hard to look for the dead body of a party member on the ground.
But for a team with three healers, it went pretty well. My thrall was very useful. And I didn’t have the pressure of keeping everyone alive since I wasn’t the only healer, but I helped!
My second run, though, was kinda--just a bit--nerve-wracking because that time I was the only healer on the team. We had a gunner, a lancer, a berserker, I think a warrior or was it two berserkers?? I don’t really remember, but I was the only healer so the pressure was a bit high on me to keep everyone alive.
Man, idk how healers do it. It’s just so fucking confusing sometimes. Like, having to scan the area and make sure you get to whoever’s losing hp faster than the others. But I think I did a good job keeping everyone healed and alive.
For the most part, everyone stuck together so all I had to do was kinda run back and forth making sure I healed whoever needed healing. I felt a bit like a babysitter, making sure the kids didn’t get hurt while their parents were away. But like everything, there’s always that one person who decides to go off on their own. Smh.
Like, I didn’t realize our group was split up until I noticed someone was really low on health and needed major healing. But I didn’t know where they were because the ones in front of me were all pretty good on health. So not finding him anywhere in front of me with the others, I checked the map, and he was in a different part of it! He was nearby, but in a different room nonetheless. So even if I had wanted to get to him (and I did want to get to him), I couldn’t because he wound up dying before I could reach him. Plus, part of me was just “I can’t leave them in case someone gets majorly hurt.” And when I saw he was dead, I was gonna rez him, but he used a scroll so all was well.
Thankfully, he didn’t blame me because technically that was not my fault. It’s not my fault you decided to run off and try to kill things on your own for whatever reason. He just rezzed and came into the room where we were to finish helping us. I healed everyone who needed healing and when we were done, we moved on.
Same guy wound up dying again in the room where all blood maids/vampire ladies and their minions are. We had trouble with that room on our first run so it was pretty much no different the second run. Because all of them started attacking at once. I did my best to heal everyone, but the guy from before got away from me and I couldn’t find him in time so he died again. I rezzed him that time when everyone had finished killing the minions and stuff.
Then later, I noticed someone was low on health and that someone else had decided to slip away from the group, and thinking it was the player that was low on health, I hauled ass to where they were only to find out it was our gunner and she was in pretty good health. I healed her anyway because I didn’t realize she was perfectly fine till after.
So then the two of us were away from the group and the others’ health was going down and I was just whispering to myself, “Hold on, hold on, hold on. I’m coming. Don’t die!” as I ran back to catch up to them. Then we made a wrong turn and went down the wrong way and got lost a bit. So there was a bit more time lost there. But finally, I figure out where they were and made it to them in time to see them killing the monsters they were fighting. I healed them and we continued on. Thankfully, no one died.
Ugh, man, though. That was tough, though. For someone who’s never gotten a healer that far, that was insane! And I think it’ll only get a bit worse from there. I’m just really grateful that my party wasn’t an ass to me. Or if they did say something to me, I didn’t see it cos I was paying too much attention to their health than the chat.
So I think two deaths the second time as well. Same person, though, the second time. lol
Seriously, though, don’t wander off from your healer in dungeons! Don’t go attempting to kill things on your own! Stick with your team so your healer can heal you. Or at least when you die for going off on your own, know that it was your own fault you died.
I just hear so many horror stories of how rude people are to healers and it’s just--these are the people who keep you alive, you do realize, right??? They can choose to save your life or let you die. Pretty sure you don’t wanna piss them off. And like, why be fucking rude to them anyway?? Pretty sure they’re doing their best.
I had fun, though. Healing’s a lot tougher than I imagined. I always do appreciate the healer’s help on my teams. Especially when there’s only one who has to look out for everyone and make sure everyone’s okay on health. But I like healing. Though ngl, when I’m on my main and do dungeons, I do often forget to check my health. I think it’s an unconscious thing that I rely heavily on the healer to heal me that I forget to check my own hp. Or that I have a move like Vampiric Blow that can steal me back some hp. I do forget a lot that I have Vampiric Blow when I do dungeons.
I also sometimes try to heal myself so that the healer doesn’t have to heal me as often.
Omg speaking of healing, which reminded me of mana, I got low on mana today during my second run of Sinestral Manor! I kinda freaked out a bit, like, “Omg where am I gonna get more mana from!” and remembered I had mana potions. lol I gotta remember to drop some mana motes around the area a bit in case I need them or someone else needs them.
I think I might do SM once more tomorrow just so I can get a bit more practice healing people in a group.
Didn’t log into my berserker today except to get the federation bills. So still haven’t done Labyrinth of Terror. I’ll get to it eventually when I stop loving playing my mystic. lol
