Liam has joined the line up for Tom's Inside My Head concert at the Royal Albert Hall alongside Becky Hill, KSI, McFly and Sigrid on September 20
Liam Payne has revealed that he reached out to The Wanted's Tom Parker after he was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
The former One Direction singer, 28, told MailOnline: 'When I heard about what Tom was going through I wanted to reach out to him, he's showing so much strength and courage and I wanted to offer help and support in any way I could.'
Tom, 33, publicly announced he had been diagnosed with stage four Glioblastoma in October and said it 'meant a lot' that Liam had reached out and put their 'silly rivalry' from their days in competing boy bands to one side.
Tom said of the call: 'Liam got in touch after he heard about my diagnosis and was really supportive, it really meant a lot to hear from him, it was such a lovely gesture. (...) and put all the silly rivalry from years ago aside, life really is too short and I'm so grateful for his support.'
Putting his words into actions, Liam agreed during the chat to join the line up for Tom's Inside My Head concert at the Royal Albert Hall alongside Becky Hill, KSI, McFly and Sigrid later this month.
The Strip That Down hitmaker said of the gig: 'My thoughts have been with him [Tom] a lot and it means the world that I can support him and his fundraising efforts by performing at the show, I can't wait.'
Reflecting back on the heartfelt chat, Tom said: 'We had a zoom to catch up and I mentioned the show at the Royal Albert Hall & he said he'd love to be involved. I'm looking forward to seeing him at the gig.'
The Tom Parker - Inside my head concert will raise vital funds for Stand Up To Cancer and The National Brain Appeal and will take place at the Royal Albert Hall on September 20.
capitalofficial: Liam Payne Surprises A Fan (Disguised As A Robot) 🤖 @liampayne's latest song, 'Sunshine', features a robotic voice, as does his film, Ron's Gone Wrong, so we thought we'd transform the singer into our very own robot. Disguised as Capital's AI, he surprised an unknowing fan, who couldn't see Liam; she could only hear him. Just wait until you hear some of what she says...
