Redefining School’s Mission and Vision
In the best of all words to utter, the UE and CAS mission and vision are the foundation of every action that are done and will be done by every student as well as the educators of the academy. But are those done works worked out well because of those statements? Are those statements just stayed on our mouth? Did our beloved school made us feel that those statements functioned and will function well in the academy? But the main question is where are we now? And why we chose to be here?
The University of the East isn’t alone in terms of giving founding purpose for everyone who wants to enter in and isn’t alone in producing good quality of education. Every school did have those. However, there’s one thing that fails to do and that is, no matter how good a mission and vision of a certain school are, not everyone achieved those.
One man says that “A vision with a spirit is a mission.” For me, that only means, everything that you are visualizing with a whole you means that you did have great purpose to do so, a mission that you feel you are required to do.
In a certain moment, one student might say that a school’s mission and vision are just a display, that those are just some kind of tactic for a school to be accredited, that those will not help him to have a better job because he believed that it’s all because of his hard works, and not because of school’s mission and vision, that he may not feel those statements in his four or five years in the University functions well, that he didn’t choose to be here because of those statements but he is here because he is here right now. But the most dangerous part of a student who doesn’t even know what’s behind those statements may have the tendency to blame the University why he is in the place he didn’t like to be in, or why he is incompetent? or why he is not good in the field he chose? that he might blame the system of the University.
Personally speaking, there’s nothing wrong with both CAS and UE mission and vision. All those words in those statements did really have a means with a sense Yes it’s not your mission to create something good, after all it UE’s but frankly speaking, you are part of the mission in creating something great because every good action you did reflect on UE and CAS mission and vision, and also because that’s one proof that UE and CAS mission and vision are one of the helping tool to motivate you and one way thing to remember that their mission and vision are existing in producing a higher quality of education that will lead you to where and what you want to be.
