        “i’m not even standing that close to you, james.         i’m all the way over here, actually.”

         it isn’t really that delsin is trying to keep his         distance, but he’s also trying to... lose that         sheer awkwardness between them. at this         point, though, he’s not sure if that’s even         all that possible. he made it a point to give         james some space, and yet he’s still too         close? delsin sighs, raising a hand to rub         at his forehead and stepping away again.

         when in reality, all he wants is to just get         closer and wrap arms around the frame         he used to know, but he won’t. he’s more         willful than that now. he’s got to be.

“So I told you I went back to Flagstaff for a week, right? Do you know how weird it is, to run into the brother of the girl you used to date and have him hit on you, not knowing who you are.” 

A pause as she thought back to the situation, arms crossed over her chest now and feet kicked up onto the coffee table. 

“It kinda, it just is kinda surreal, you know. But I guess it’s not worse than the thing with Cal. Anyways, what did you the passed week? Did you go into the New Years with a bang?”

He stares at James, blood dripping down his apron to puddle at his feet. He’s soaked in it. Some of it was his enemies’, the various Haunted they’d fought up to this point, but a good portion of it was leaking from himself. His clothing was torn by blades and bullets, and his body was crisscrossed with dripping cuts. His safe was mangled and mashed, and a steady stream of bloodstuff spilled out from the safe door that no longer quite fit the frame.

“You are..” his mind is muddled as he tries to focus. “The...” he can’t remember the words he’s looking for, settles for others.

“Not people down now. You not. I go down now,” he leans against the wall and lets himself slide against it to the floor, leaving a streak of blood where he pressed against it.

“Hi, you’re James, right? I’m,” he grimaces before continuing, “Boxman.” The designation sounds ridiculous out loud, but the woman had been insistent that he not go by his real name. She had also forced him to dress in this get-up, similar to the one the monster wore inside the system. He holds out a hand.
