I finally sat down to refine my very first theme, Nimbus, and I’m so happy with how it’s evolving! What started as a simple, slightly rushed layout has turned into something much more "me"—cute, elegant, and a little bit dreamy.
LIVE PREVIEW // CODE
On the live preview page, you will see a button that lets you instantly toggle between the 1-Column and 2-Column Grid layouts. You can click back and forth to see exactly which version fits your vibe better before you even install the theme!
Here’s a breakdown of the major changes I’ve implemented:
☁️ Smart Layout Logic
The Dashboard Toggle: I added a toggle in the customization menu for the Floating Status Widget.
Auto-Grid: If you toggle the Status OFF, the theme detects the extra space and automatically switches your posts into a 2-Column Grid Layout. If you toggle it ON, it returns to a focused Single Column. It adapts to how you want to use it!
🌙 New Functionality
Dark & Light Mode: I added a toggle (Sun/Moon icon) so you can switch between a dark grey aesthetic and a soft cream "Day" mode. It remembers your choice even if you refresh!
Hidden Controls: To keep the aesthetic clean, the Tumblr interface (Follow/Dashboard buttons) is hidden by default. You can reveal them by clicking the little user icon in the corner.
✨ Visual Overhaul
The "Glow" Effect: I moved away from flat borders. Now, the avatar, buttons, and posts have a soft, white box-shadow glow when you hover over them. It feels much more dreamy now.
Typography: Switched the sidebar title to Playfair Display (italicized) for that editorial magazine look, while keeping the body text clean.
Square Avatar: Swapped the small circle icon for a large, bold square profile picture.
Uppercase Headers: Post titles are now strictly uppercase with a divider line to separate them from the content.
☁️ The "Nimbus" Details
Floating Status: The status widget is now pill-shaped and gently floats up and down (literally!) to mimic a cloud.
Collection Dropdown: Converted the sidebar links into a collapsible "Collections" menu to save space.
Cloud Scroll-to-Top: Replaced the generic arrow with a custom cloud SVG.

Wowie, i never dreamt of ever putting so many options into this theme! I’ve had the previous version (which ive used on many of my blogs before) sitting in my drafts since august and i decided to give it a second chance. the most minimal “windows” theme i made. i made super cool captions, along with asks & audio posts. example in previews. lots of color options for those who are particular about certain areas of your theme. 3 links & redirect option. optional 250px or 400px. there’s lots of options in this theme. extra notes in the theme code! enjoy if you use, and message as always for issues.
header theme with fancy buttons and animated box shadow. your header image floats, and there are a bunch of color options that’s confusing to read i’m so sorry. please don’t use transparent header images since i’m using box-shadow css instead. i have optional like everything on there and the cowboy bebop font as well. enjoy.
it’s a simple theme and i originally wanted to craft my own redux theme. i’ve been missing those, but ended up doing this instead. the cool thing would be your sidebar icon having links and a searchbar underneath. message me as always for bugs. happy 2020!
image: favicon, cursor, sidebar icon (must be 300x300), icon hover background, pixels in btwn links, page background, pixel under description.
another sidebar theme with simple too many customizations. you have a cool sticker image at the bottom of the page that you can switch sides. you have hover rb/via/src links at the post notes and hover tags. optional like everything tbh. you’ll see the easiness of hiding whatever you want in this theme. i have also added some capcom fonts [and one konami font >_>] so have fun. the font names for you to input into font family will be at the beginning of the code! i made this with my base code so like srsly my base code is universal. try it out for yourself too!
every time i make a new theme for myself, i will post for you! i was thinking about fallout the past week.
basic sidebar theme. hover sidebar links and tags. this theme features two fonts that are in the fallout games: share tech mono (terminals), and faraco hand (handwriting from notes). link hover is glitchy and you can choose 2 colors.
try it out and lmk about anything. icon credits in theme links.
