the 1st floor LOOKS mostly done but will need to do lots of interior work before I can do the next floor. Up to and including plans for passing the wiring from the upper floors down.

(Second floor is actually not glued on I just checking the fit)

New (new) project - ‘The Smugglers Rest’ from Scale Model DIY on Etsy - a 1:48 (quarter) scale building.  I’m going to turn Smugglers Rest into a travelling steampunk Research Witch’s house,  using the base of a gypsy wagon from Aged With Thyme (an Etsy seller, wagon is 1/24 scale) and  pulled along by my new Blue Ringed Octopus friend above!  He/she came from Thimble Creature Shop (another Etsy seller).

While at a miniature expo last weekend looking for props for @oliverthesnail, I came across this lovely shop called Petworth Miniatures that sells these amazing tiny (1:48 scale) all-included kits based on famous rooms from famous novels. Of course, when I saw 221B Baker Street I had to get it. All the structure and most of the decor were included in the kit, as was the wiring for the light. Of course, being the dweeb that I am, I had to add my own personal touches, like the cut glass bead lamp, the metal hardware on the door, and a furry bearskin rug to replace the printed one included in the kit. The last few photos are not great, I just wanted to show off the lighting a little better and included a photo with a quarter for scale, so you can see just how tiny this thing actually is.

I've never made anything this small before, so lord knows it's not perfect but between my love for all things tiny and my love for all things Sherlock Holmes, I'm really quite smitten with this kit, and I suspect this won't be my last book room kit.

Me, opening up an LED tealight without any idea how it works: pls don't electrocute me. I just wanna see 😰

Me, five secs later: I can totally put that in a fireplace!

Me, three hrs later, sitting at the dining room table with my head in my hands: omg why do I even try to do miniatures? I'm awful at this. It doesn't work. I've wasted $90 worth of glue. I'm never getting all of this paint out from under my fingernails. Everyone else is so much better. I'm a crafter, not an artist. I should just stay in my lane.

Me, two more hrs later, holding this thing over my head like Simba: I am the President of Miniatures! Look upon my works and despair!!!!

Finally finished the structure for my little Malcolm’s Miniatures 1/48 scale (quarter scale) Tudor house.

The roof had warped due to the glue used, so I redid all the roof tiles, re-seated the chimney - with flashing made from matchsticks, and made myself a base with a cobbled street frontage, an alley and a nice lawn side yard with some flowers planted.

This house belongs to an up-and-coming merchant who has remodeled an older Tudor house with fashionable ‘nogging’ brickwork and new plaster, for his wife so she has a city retreat.
