Seriously, I still get chills from watching this video. I remember how I felt when I first saw it. I remember how many times I watched it (of the 8million views, I was probably 6 million of them). I just remember being so excited. I remember people who didn't even like girls generation being excited about this comeback. It was the first time they were doing a concept like this, it was a new style of kpop song, it was a total transformation from the typical SNSD. Hate them or love them, you cannot deny that this was THE MOST anticipated comeback of 2013.
Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries far behind you.
But in your dreams, whatever they be,
Dream a little dream of me.
It's sunny. Warm. Green grass under my bare feet. I'm wearing jeans. Beat up ones. White t-shirt. Plain. It feels like Tennessee. Walking in an open field. Smells like sunshine...and cookies. Snickerdoodles. There's house. It looks like our old one back in Nashville. But...brighter. The wooden porch steps creak under my feet. On the far end, there's a huge white porch swing. There's sweet humming coming from there. She looks up at me and smiles.
"Sammy."
It's my Cricket. But not really. She's...older. Taller. Same pretty blue eyes. Her hair's longer. In two thick braids. And she's wearing pink and orange. Her favorite colors. There's a huge plate of snickerdoodle cookies sitting next to her on the swing, but as I step closer, she slides it over so I can sit down. She looks up, same sweet smile. Her front tooth's missing.
She's beautiful.
"Cricket, what is this place?"
She giggles. "It's my place. It's quiet here. It's warm. And there's cookies. I loved the cookies, remember?"
"You did, baby. But why am I here?"
She shrugs, playing with the hem of her dress. "I dunno. But I'm glad you are. I missed you."
"I miss you too. Every day. Mama and Daddy miss you too." Her little hand reaches for mine and I can't help the tear that falls. I've missed this. I can't tell if it's real or not, but I want it to stay. I want to be here with her. With cookies and sunshine, and--
"Sammy?"
"Yeah Stace?"
"Can you sing for me?"
"Sure. What d'you wanna hear?"
"The dream song," she replies softly. She crawls into my lap, her head on my shoulder and she smells like my Cricket. Snickerdoodles and sunshine. So I rub her back and I sing, while the swing gently rocks.
Stars shining bright above you
Night breezes seem to whisper I love you
Birds singing in the sycamore tree.
Dream a little dream of me.
Say nighty-night and kiss me;
Just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me.
While I'm alone, blue as can be,
Dream a little dream of me.
"Are you sad, Sammy" she interrupts. Those blue eyes are full of questions for her big brother, and I don't know if I can answer them.
"I was, Cricket. I was really sad. 'Cause I thought I lost you. I did some bad things. I was hurting."
"But you're not bad. You're the best big brother ever. You like cookies, and playing superheroes. And you sing for me. You made the monsters go away."
The sun dims slowly and she clutches me tighter, whimpering softly.
"Cricket?" I hold her close, a small shiver of panic running down my spine.
"I love you, Sammy" she whispers. "But you can't stay."
"Why not?" I feel confused. The sun's almost gone now and it's getting cold but I still hold her tight. "Why can I stay, Stace?"
"I dunno. It's not were you're 'posed to be. But I'm fine, Sammy. There's cookies, and sunshine, and you sang for me. I'm happy. No more monsters."
"I wanna stay."
"You can't. You have to go back." She kisses me on the cheek and hops down, running off the porch. It's night, and she's always been scared of the dark.
"Stacy!" I follow her, but it's too dark. I can't find her. No moon. No sunlight. No cookies. Just darkness. My chest hurts. The spot above my heart.
I need...
My Sunshine.
There's a small glow in the distance. Tiny. But the more I walk, the warmer it gets, the bigger the dot becomes until I'm standing in a completely different place.
It's near a lake.
A large cabin with a huge porch sits near the water's edge.
I hear humming.
That voice...I know it.
I don't have to wait long.
She comes out, and I smile. She's wearing yellow. Hair down, those big, soft curls I love so much. Her smile is wide as she leaps off the large porch and I catch her just in time.
Soft thighs wrap around my waist as we hug tightly. I brush away a few strands of hair from her face as she kisses me.
I taste her light. Warm and soothing.
My Sunshine.
She smiles through our kisses, pulling away, those wide chestnut eyes filled with so much love.
"I knew you'd come back to me. Welcome home, Wolf."
She's mine. I'm hers. I'm home.
Mercedes.
I'll stay here forever.
Red and Wolf.
I hear crying. We both look around. "What's that?" I ask.
She's still smiling. "It's okay, baby. Open your eyes."
"What?"
"Open your eyes."
I clutch her tighter as a sharp pain in my head overtakes me.
Headlights
Crying.
Hunter.
Darkness.
"Princess?" My voice shakes but she reassures me with kisses, her Sunshine soothing me once more.
"It's okay, Sammy. We can come back. We're coming back soon. We'll have our place someday. Just not right now."
Today is 2012.12.21 in Korea. You know what that means! No, it’s not the end of the world, it’s the day that marks the reveal of Girls’ Generation‘s pre-release off their upcoming album!
As their 4th album is their first Korean release in a year since their 3rd, ‘The Boys‘, it’s one that has been much awaited by their fans around the globe .
However, the bad news is that you still have to wait a bit as their 4th album titled ‘I Got a Boy‘ will not be released until January1st.
But don’t worry, the nine beautiful ladies have presented you with a new track to hold you over until then. As mentioned earlier, the pre-release is indeed a remake of a very famous song that should be familiar to almost everyone. Titled “Dancing Queen“, it is a fresh Girls’ Generation style remake of “Mercy” by none other than the internationally recognized singer Duffy.
The girls actually already prepared this song way in advance as the recording as well as the music video filming is said to have all been completed back in 2008.
However, that’s not all, for the music video will be serving as somewhat of a time machine as it takes you down memory lane to 2008 but brings you up to speed for 2013 with the beginning and ending of the music video containing new images and footage of the girls who will be returning shortly!
The album itself is said to have a time machine like concept as it will express the past, present, and the future goals of the girls with various sounds.
Also, starting with the release of member Hyoyeon‘s teaser image today, a new photo will be revealed one by one, which is sure to add to the excitement.
