Inktober Day 16: Wild
10-16-19 (Wednesday)
In 1965 my family lived in Phoenix Arizona for about 4 months. On New Year's Eve we drove to Anaheim and stayed with friends of our parents. The friends were having a New Year's Party and the four of us kids, ages 2 to 10, were put to bed in the master bedroom. I remember this because they had a huge round bed and a TV in their bedroom and it was like nothing we had ever seen before. Going to house parties with our parents was pretty common, nobody could afford baby sitters.
The next day was spent at Disneyland, a kid mecca in 1965. Oddly enough, 54 years later the most memorable part of that day was the parking lot and shuttle. They played announcements on the shuttle asking people to do things like take their hats off so they didn't blow away. I remember my Dad commenting about how people were actually taking their hats off and that if you asked nice in the right way, people would do what you ask. I remember very little else about Disneyland.
And so....I found myself by the entrance of a Disney Parking lot today, shuffling through 54 year old memories, finding it quite strange that those were the only memories of Anaheim that have stayed with me all of those years!
It's time to click the heels and head for home.
THERE, for the sake of my followers I’ve made a side-blog.
It's not fair to think that you can be everything. Only I can save myself, I know. But I keep wishing for someone else to save me. A bad habit.
Everyone faces there own aches of the pain. So I must battle mine.
But it gets hard for me to believe that I am loved. It gets hard to believe that I won't be forgotten. Even in the happiest stage of my life so far I feel this darkness.
