10-8 Performance by Triple Bravo Via Flickr: M&P sights
The Springfield Operator will always have a place in my heart, after my Kimber fiasco, I was still dead set on findings a railed 1911 that could run at a duty level and was somewhat adorable, and after much research, that was the obvious choice.
At the time they were hard to get, and versions where kind of confusing, looking at the catalog you would believe there were only three options, all .45s, the MC with the Pachmayr grips and OD green frame; the LW with an aluminum frame and FLGR; and the TRP that had a bull barrel and adjustable sights, features that I didn't agree with.
However, if you were lucky, there was a "secret" version that popped up from time to time, the LBO, contracted by the Long Beach Police Department, that happened to have all the features I wanted, full black, magwell, no FLGR, no weird sights, unfortunately I was never able to find one, ended up with a LW that I slowly turned into the gun I actually wanted, and it accompanied me for the better part of my 1911 journey, right until the point I took the decision to switch to 9mm and Glock...1911 life was getting expensive.
