River is a grounder. She has lived her whole life on Earth as part of Trikru Clan. Her parents were killed by the Mountain Men via their fog and so she was raised by her Great Aunt Madame Kovarian. But she had never wanted a child and so River spent her life training to be a warrior.
This led to many visits to the healer. John was kind and good to her and the two were in a relationship for many years.
When the people from the sky arrived River was very wary of them and just like many of her people she took them as a threat. However her views on them have changed. This is mainly because of John, he was taken by the Mountain Men and used for Harvest Project.
River had hoped that he was alive, but when they stormed Mount Weather he wasn’t found and has been presumed dead.
Although she stays with her people she does hold respect for the people from the sky now and is unlikely to hurt them.
