Hello, Tumblr. Yes it’s been a while and yes I said more free time. I just didn’t feel like posting so I now present a doodle bomb.

To start, we have Calamity. He’s one of the main characters for a comic Idea that i have. Despite his name, he’s not a really a threat.

Next we have Calamity and Daisy. It’s incomplete and I might finish it this weekend.

I’ve decided that I wanted to a 100 style challenge of my character Remi. Yes she is purple but I changed that based on the style. I plan to work on this over several weeks but today to celebrate the new Animal Crossing and episodes of Steven Universe Future, I drew these!

Phew that was a lot. Sorry for the bad quality, I didn’t feel like creating a file for all of these. I have several things in the works so be on the lookout I guess. Don’t know when that’ll be bc I lost my stylus :/. I’m off to watch Future now so peace.

Drawing Challenge: 100 Styles!

The idea behind the activity: as a learning artist, you hear the phrase “it’s my style!” thrown around a lot. Sometimes a slip-up in anatomy really is just a stylistic thing, and sometimes it really is a mistake that you, the artist, either can’t see or are unsure of how to fix. CLAMPs long limbs is purely a stylistic thing, and Family Guy’s eyes as big as noses is also a stylistic thing. 

I found that when I was trying to change my artstyle from a purely anime-looking style of art, drawing in alternate styles or taking inspiration from other artists really helped me expand. It didn’t magically fix other problems, and sometimes it created new ones. But what it did do was help me develop and find a style that I like drawing in. That’s the long story short.

The thing is, you should be okay with drawing in other styles. It is okay to draw things that are not in your style, and it is okay to branch out every now and then. It is okay to draw in different styles if you are looking to change or work your style. Even if you don’t have your own “style” yet, or like to draw anime, that’s okay!

This activity is meant to challenge you, but also let you have fun.
