VERSE OF THE DAY:
GALATIANS 5:24
And those who beling o christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
BE ENCOURAGED
You are no longer a victim of sin, but a victor over sin!
SHARE YOUR FAITH
If you truly want to crucify the things that pull you away from God, invite other to speak into your life.
When we share our honest struggles with other believers, we can mutually encourage, correct, and strengthen one another.
LOOK AT THE FRUIT
Imagine you have two seeds in your hand, but you can only plant one…
One seed grows easily, but it produces ugly, terrible tasting fruit. Cultivating the other seed takes time and consistent attention—but the fruit it produces is beautiful and delicious.
Which seed would you choose to plant, water, and grow?
In Galatians 5, the apostle Paul talks about two types of fruit that our lives can produce: fruit of the flesh and fruit of the Spirit.
“The flesh” refers to our unchecked desires that pull us away from God’s Spirit. Those desires produce hate, impatience, bitterness, selfishness, chaos, anxiety, and self-indulgence—and God has no association with such things.
But when we commit our lives to Jesus, He gives us His own Spirit. The power of the Holy Spirit helps us “crucify” the desires of our flesh and put them to death. And when we crucify those desires, we create room for the Holy Spirit to produce good fruit in our lives—fruit that leads to positive changes.
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”
Galatians 5:22-23 NIV
Our flesh wants to get even, but the Spirit calls us to extend kindness. Our flesh wants to entertain sinful thoughts, but the Spirit calls us to walk in self-control. Our flesh wants to dictate our emotional response, but the Spirit calls us to walk in joy and peace.
The fruits of the Spirit reveal that we are actively seeking God and rejecting disobedience.
So right now, reflect on your life. What kind of fruit are you producing? Are you experiencing love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, and self-control—or are there pockets of bitterness, anger, jealousy, and self-indulgence in your life? What steps do you need to take to “crucify” the things that are pulling you away from God?
Let the Holy Spirit show you what you need to remove, and then allow Him to transform your heart and your actions. With His help, you can cultivate and produce good, life-giving fruit.
God, I am in awe of You! The problems of the world around me can be frightening, but You are greater than my problems. I'm so grateful I can always count on You. Your will is perfect, and Your plans are good. Your power is perfected in my weakness, and it is greater than any situation I might face. Thank You for showing me Your faithfulness everyday. In Jesus' name, Amen.
1 CORINTHIANS 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Picture bringing your struggles to Jesus. As you give Him these things, what do you see Him giving you in return?
Talk to God about whatever He puts on your mind.
PSALM 121:7-8
The Lord will keep you from all evil; He will keep your life. the Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.
The God who created you is with you. Where do you need His protection today?
Talk to Him about what you need, and make this verse your prayer for the day.
DAILY BIBLE READING:
ISAIAH 28-29
PHILIPPIANS 3
JUDGEMENT ON EPHRAIM AND JERUSALEM
drunkards and fading beauty. Behold, the Lord has one who is mighty and strong;In that day the Lord of hosts will be a crown of glory, and a diadem of beauty, to the remnant of his people, 6and a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, and strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate. 11 For by people of strange lips
and with a foreign tongue
the Lord will speak to this people,
12to whom he has said,
“This is rest;
give rest to the weary;
and this is repose”;
A CORNERSTONE IN ZION
“Behold, I am the one who has laid as a foundation in Zion,
a stone, a tested stone,
a precious cornerstone, of a sure foundation:
‘Whoever believes will not be in haste.’
17And I will make justice the line,
and righteousness the plumb line;
and hail will sweep away the refuge of lies,
and waters will overwhelm the shelter.”
26 For he is rightly instructed;
his God teaches him.
29This also comes from the Lord of hosts;
he is wonderful in counsel
and excellent in wisdom.
THE SIEGE OF JERUSALEM
10 For the Lord has poured out upon you
a spirit of deep sleep,
and has closed your eyes (the prophets),
and covered your heads (the seers).
“Because this people draw near with their mouth
and honor me with their lips,
while their hearts are far from me,
and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men,
14therefore, behold, I will again
do wonderful things with this people,
with wonder upon wonder;
and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish,
and the discernment of their discerning men shall be hidden.”
16 You turn things upside down!
Shall the potter be regarded as the clay,
that the thing made should say of its maker,
“He did not make me”;
The meek shall obtain fresh joy in the Lord,
and the poor among mankind shall exult in the Holy One of Israel.
For when he sees his children,
the work of my hands, in his midst,
they will sanctify my name;
they will sanctify the Holy One of Jacob
and will stand in awe of the God of Israel.
24And those who go astray in spirit will come to understanding,
and those who murmur will accept instruction.”
RIGHTEOUSNESS THROUGH FAITH IN CHRIST
rejoice in the Lord. we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh. I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. not having a righteousness of my own, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— 10that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.
STRAINING TOWARD THE GOAL
I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. 16Only let us hold true to what we have attained. join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us. our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.
JOHN 16:31-33
I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD
Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe? 32Behold, the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me. 33I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
INSIGHT
As we face uncertainty in this world (as was the case with the disciples in John 16), receiving words of comfort can be like a two-sided coin. One side is stamped with the words, “Take heart!” (v. 33) or “Fear not!” We can take this command seriously and trust God in the face of all kinds of fears. Then we see the other side of the comfort coin: “I [Jesus] have overcome the world” (v. 33). The words of Christ, prophetic and anticipatory at the time they were spoken, have even greater meaning today on this side of the cross and resurrection. Jesus was indeed victorious! He conquered death, and because He did, “We are more than conquerors through him who loved us” (Romans 8:37). No matter what we face, because of our faith in Christ, God will be with us and will give us peace.

WHAT GOD WILL DO
During the Blitz on London on December 29, 1940, a bomb destroyed a warehouse near St. Paul’s Cathedral. When Biddy Chambers received the news that all 40,000 copies of Oswald Chambers’ books stored there were lost—which she had compiled and edited but not insured—she set down her teacup and remarked to her daughter, “Well, God has used the books for His glory, but now that is over. We’ll wait and see what God will do now.”
Perhaps Biddy was remembering what her late husband, Oswald, had written at the start of the First World War. He noted how Jesus had spoken to His disciples about “the inevitability of peril” so that when horrible things happened, they would “not be scared” because He was with them.
Jesus told His friends, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). He wanted them to remain strong in their faith in His Father so they could withstand the trials and challenges they would endure.
Biddy’s quiet confidence in God carried her through, and eventually the books were reprinted and became classics for generations. We too can find encouragement and hope in Jesus’ promises that He has overcome the world. We know that He won’t leave us (14:18) and will give us peace (v. 27), no matter what we face.

REFLECT AND PRAY
How do you respond to Biddy’s reaction when she heard the devastating news of the books burning? How could you follow her example of trusting God?
Loving Jesus, please help me to “overcome the world” in my daily life as I share Your love with others. in Jesus' name, Amen.
BELIEVING FOR A MOVE OF GOD
BE UNSTOPPABLE IN LOVE
REFLECTION
The Gospel continues to be proclaimed and people continue to be saved; They didn't let fear run the show, there is an extraordinary boldness exhibited by Peter and John not just once but throughout the book of Acts. These ordinary men and women who went regularly to the place of prayer were never frightened to take an opportunity to proclaim the gospel. These Jesus followers who had seen our Lord pray often and then step out in power, followed His way, and lived like Him, and through regular prayer and regular proclamation found victory under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It was almost as if nothing could stop them!
PRAYER
Lord help us today, May fear not run the show, may we truly be unstoppable disciples of Jesus. Empower us today to boldly proclaim your gospel. in Jesus' name, Amen.
