A post Mockingjay edit that I made a while back. :) panempropaganda
(Whole country in rebellion? Wouldn’t want anything like that!
They can’t hurt me. I’m not like the rest of you. There’s no one left I love. Johanna Mason, p. 347)
This is my entry for the Hunger Games Propaganda contest. The theme was to use your favorite quote in a visual way. I did Typrography portraits of my two favorite characters from the books/movies. So I used two different quotes to make Johanna Mason and Katniss Everdeen out of the text. Everything is made out of Helvetica. Johanna and Katniss are made out of the quote “Love Is Weird” and the bigger text is “They Can’t Hurt Me. I’m Not Like The Rest Of You. There’s No One Left I love.” Quoted from Johanna Mason. Hope you enjoy it!
It’s no secret that the cast and crew of The Hunger Games series is one tight group but Catching Fire brought to light an incredible friendship which grew into a beautiful bromance between the Boy with the Bread himself, Josh Hutcherson, and the Capitol’s darling, Sam Claflin who plays Finnick. These two are clearly #THGBFFs......
“It’s a full-blown bromance, It’s really bromantic and adorable. It’s really cute. It’s annoying, but It’s cute.” - Jennifer Lawrence
#MyTHGstory
#MyTHGstory I met THG long before the first movie was released, Jenn wasn’t even cast and when my friend told me I had to read the trilogy I ignored her. A few months later, another friends organized the very first Hunger Games I saw in my country, I didn’t participate bc I didn’t knew anything about the story but I was intrigued about the arena, so I had to read the books. I ended the serie within a month. By the end of 2011, @hungergames_mx gave us the most amazing new: they were going to make a rally to emulate the Arena with 12 districts at Six Flags Mexico. I had to be a tribute. The next couple of months I spend all my time making photoshots as Katniss, answering why I should be a tribute and making songs (I did THG version of Rolling in the Deep). Finally, I got selected. The best part? Jenn and Liam were going to delivered the price (a car) to the winner! I coundn’t belive it but unfortunetly I lost. My friend and I crossed half of the city for the M&G, yeah, I’d won a M&G too. I was crying before, during and after seeing them. Liam asked me if I was okey and hugged me so hard and Jenn cleaned the tears out of my face, SHE TOUCHED MY FACE and hugged for a while, she even complimented my girl-on-fire nail art. For CF, I was studying in Spain, when Lionsgate announced the premiere in Madrid I know I had to go. I sent over 10,000 tweets is 2 days to won a contest and I won!! I bought my bus ticket and went to Madrid, I waited like 13hrs in the red carpet to see Francis, Liam, Josh and Jenn, I got the autograph of the three guys and a photo with Josh and I had the chance to see the movie at Callao City Lights. The last year & the best1, I was in Mexico again looking for tickets to the Mexican premiere but instead I found a contest to won a trip to the LA premiere. I ran all over the city making pics & videos saying why I deserved to win. My sister helped me all over the process & we won!! The two of us traveled to LA for free & had an special spot at the red carpet with all the international winners. We saw all the cast!!! We had pictures with almost all of them & signatures. The best surprise was when Suzanne Collins arrived and I had the chance to thank her for giving me Katniss. At the end, we entered into the Nokia Theater to see the movie. I have been in 3 premieres, I have seen the trio three times & this year couldn’t be different, I got a job, i got the money & my sister & I are going to LA again for the epic final. I couldn’t be so more blessed, i found amazing friends because of THG, i’d followed the cast arround the world & I had the chance to met Collins. It’d been an amazing journey I can’t even describe.
Your THG Stories
As we found out over the last week, The Hunger Games is much more to our fandom than just a series of novels or a movie franchise.
We were OVERWHELMED, in the best way possible, by the outpouring of emotional, heartfelt, funny and interesting stories you wrote over the last week. Thank you all so much for participating in this project. Thank you for your vulnerability and courage in telling your stories. We’ll never forget it.
My THG story
It started in 2011, I had always been a big reader but I hadn’t properly dabbled in YA fiction yet, my closest to anything similar being Harry Potter. I remember seeing the books on sale in my local bookstore under popular titles and decided to buy them with a voucher I had got for my birthday. I finished all 3 books in about 3 days, I’d spent the entire time in bed just reading, I was hooked. Not too long afterwards the first movie came out and the cinematography blew my mind. It was a short while after the movie’s release that other people my age began to take interest in the books and movies, but not in the way I did, none of my friends had theories about the way things turn out, backstories of characters etc. They just used to say how they liked Katniss, nothing else. It was early 2013 that I discovered fandoms online. I discovered people were writing down the theories and backstories I daydreamed about as FanFiction stories, and I jumped to it right away and wrote what would be my first (and extremely poorly written) fanfiction about Finnick and Annie. Not long before the release of the Catching Fire movie did I get a tumblr and begin to write prompts and find people with similar interests to me. It was awesome. However afterwards I began to struggle with some mental health and school issues and found myself disinterested in something that was at one time my saviour and distraction from my problems. I went a year and a half only occasionally keeping up with what was happening but recently I’ve found myself falling back in love with the characters in a new way with understandings I didn’t have as a 12 year old. I have practically spent the last 4 years growing up with these books and movies. Their endings make me sad of course, but I know in my heart of hearts that the imagination within the fandom will continue far beyond the end!!
I met the world of Hunger Games two years ago. A friend recommended it to me. I started to read the first book in PDF and was excited about the world, as Katniss Everdeen was strong, sure of herself, and protects everything she loves and Peeta Mellark as the guy would do everything to protect the girl he loves. Catching Fire was my next step. I was happy reading this book because you travel deeper into an alternate world to ours, which fights what you love in life. 2 days later I finished reading Mockingjay and it was the most beautiful end of my life as it was over. Then I started to watch the movies, to know the world of the Hunger Games better, and it's the best I’ve known. An exemplary story full of reflections. We should follow the example of Katniss Everdeen. I conclude by saying that I do not regret knowing The Hunger Games and look forward to Mockingjay Part 2.
