It’s not perfect & it’s far from finished But me & my stepson have Been busy sweeping, tidying, and jet washing the garden & patio today. This little area is my haven. The hot tub where I spent a lot of time during the first lockdown. My swing chair that was from a house clearance and reminds me of my beautiful island of lanzarote. & my hammock that was bought for my 40th birthday which is a great place to read a book on a sunny day. I’d love to put up a pergola with twinkle lights over the hot tub & the fence need replacing but for now. Sometimes I share things to help you get through your days, little nuggets of wisdom, sometimes it’s a story of my days gone by that will be relevant to you. Today however. This post is a bit niche. The past weekend gone was the allotmentiversary I’ve had the plot a year. And today my dad put up a shelf that I’ve wanted since we got the shed and do you know what? it brings me so much joy that I just needed to document here. For years I’ve been searching for the “perfect simple life” that simple life that I kept seeing here on Instagram. I think I’m pretty close by to that life right now. It may not be perfect - but spoiler life never is. There is no such thing. But this place gives me joy. The veggies, the fruit, the chickens, the weeds. All of it. So if something makes you smile share it. Shout about it. Or don’t what ever. But appreciate it. Remember to be grateful for it. End of niche post. For now. You know some days I could watch the kids play all day. Like yesterday there were some lovely moments of watching the little two play. There were some moments that I could have screamed at them though. That’s the thing about wrangling 3 year olds. Infact that’s motherhood all over. There are moments that you want to scream. Day one of December done. Well almost. These lot were so excited this morning to come down and look for the elves. They were even more impressed when they found out they had got matching pjs from the North Pole. In their pre Christmas treat box. Sometimes life is really really hard with twins twice. The noise unbearable, the mess overwhelming and don’t even get me started on the amount of washing. Last night when I went to feed my chickens I thought I’d take a couple of pictures of myself at one of my happy places. ⁣ I often take a selfie at the river or if places that look a little more of someone’s traditional happy place like the beach or whatever. ⁣ But I barely feature @thegoodlife_atplot8 on this feed. ⁣ ⁣ Yet it’s part of my day every day! Its my retreat before dinner. Feed the chicks dig a few weeds watch them head up to bed then it’s home for the dinner time chaos. ⁣ ⁣ Yet sometimes I feel like it doesn’t fit the insta chic vibe (is that even a thing). ⁣ My plot is a work in progress so a little untidy. ⁣ ⁣ But today I’m throwing caution to the wind and saying it’s ok to have a quirky passion. It’s ok to have a messy plot.
