I love Ash Costello and her music, but I also agree that some of the time it feels like she is trying too hard to be edgy and dark. I feel bad sometimes because it's almost like I'm looking up to a false representation of who she really is. Not saying she isn't actually like that, but there are times when it seems forced, or just completely out of place.
