“Having spent close to this same amount in its redevelopment, Vicinity and Gandel's Chadstone mall in Melbourne's south east was awarded the top gong in the Shopping Centre New's Big Guns survey for 2017.
The centre, equal in size to about 10 Melbourne Cricket Grounds, first received the same honours a decade ago when its broached the $1 billion mark. It is now turning over $1.94 billion and is still expanding.
Shopping Centre News (SCN), considered the leading publication for the shopping centre industry, says the high sales reflect the change in malls from being merely a place to shop to evolving into the old-style town centre.”
