MANA books previously translated the FFVII 25th Memorial Ultimania into French in 2017 and now they’re taking a shot at the 10th Anniversary Ultimania this October, as reported by JeuxVideo.com. You can purchase the Ultimania at their website.

Just from the sample scans they gave out they translated this:

彼の心は無力感にさいなまれていた。2年前の、助けようとして果たせなかった苦い記憶…。それがいまも重く、クラウドの胸にのしかかっているのだった 。

as the following:

A vrai dire, Cloud est rongé par propre impuis- sance. Deux ans plus tôt il n'a pas pu secourir un être cher, et aujourd hui encore, le souvenir douloureux de cet échec pèse de tout son poids sur son coeur... 

It goes from “bitter memory of not being able to save/rescue [someone] 2 years before” (Japanese version) to “2 years ago he could not rescue a loved one”. 

So the French specifies that Aerith is Cloud’s “un être cher“ which is “loved one.” as you can see here.

On that same page, it says Reno and Rude take “the two friends ( amis ) back to Seventh Heaven.  So, Aerith is being referred to as Cloud’s “loved one” and Tifa and Cloud are “friends.”

10th Century; Falls Territory.

Elijah was out on a hunt. It was the most dangerous part of the month to be doing so, but someone in his family needed to come out here and forge for food before the winter months. He hunched next to his tent, hearing the sound of coyotes in the trees as though they were in control of everything. He was heading home after a successful hunt when he heard a noise nearby. He stood up and pressed his hand to the hilt of his sword, moving away from his fire and toward the edge of his camp. “Who is there? You should know this camp is well guarded and I will not hesitate to remove you.”

When he got no answer, the started off toward the sound he had heard. He let his eyes adjust to the dark and he noticed something hunched in the dirt, exhaling slowly. The smell of blood was strong and he knew that if he didn’t take care of it, a large animal would do it for him. “Oh, blimey,” he responded quietly and hunched down to pick up the body of the young woman.

He turned back toward camp and carried her there, ducking into his tent and placing her on his bedroll. He moved about to get water and things to repair the wounds upon her and wondered where she had come from and how she had come upon him. He wrung out the rag of water and started to clean her wounds.
