if sonic prime won't give us a rouge-centric world, then i'll just make my own <3

i've been calling it "deepfreeze domain" because it sounds just corny enough to be in the actual show. although, that's technically only half of the world; it's split in two, with the other half being a lava-filled place. deepfreeze, though, is appropriately cold.

sonic's friends are split between the two halves of the world, with the tails and rouge variants being from deepfreeze. tails, called hatchet in this world, was taken in by rouge, who's called alabaster.

a main function of this world are the wisps. everyone is bonded to one (except for hatchet, who has two). they contribute to the main gimmick of the world: wisp races.

in this world, alabaster is willing to do anything to secure that bag. those prizes. the championship title. "you might not like how i do things, but i get things done." you know? so, she's the undefeated champion of the wisp races, thanks to her own cunning tactics and a little "help" from hatchet.

that might be a problem once sonic and shadow show up though, since this shatterspace's shard is in an unfortunate spot: the championship trophy.

shadow did not have a good time in boscage

so, the thing about the megaflora in boscage is that, even though it’s incredibly strong, it’s not particularly smart. they’re plants after all, and so their “thoughts” mainly just consist of violence in service to obtaining food, and violence for the sake of violence. that changes when shadow shows up though.

through their shared black arms dna, the plants are able to connect with him, and they start poking around inside his brain. they see all his thoughts, all his memories, learn what he learns, know what he knows… and suddenly, the megaflora is extremely smart. smart enough to realize that having a mobile unit, not tethered to roots, and with a mouth that can speak for the collective, would be beneficial. so they smother shadow into submission. there’s just too many of them to hold back, once they decide they want him.

once he’s assimilated, they continue to learn more from him, and one thing in particular stands out: the creation of their world. through the eyes of shadow’s memory, they see sonic shatter the paradox prism, and thus, create boscage maze, and therefore the megaflora themselves. this leads the megaflora to the conclusion that their true creator is not gerald, the loathsome traitor who abandoned them, left them to starve, and now seeks to destroy them with project halcyon, but instead sonic.

the megaflora get a sort of reverence for him… “shadow” tells sonic that he forgives him for shattering the prism. tells him it was a good thing, actually. and that’s when sonic starts to clue into something being seriously wrong. frankly, he liked it more when shadow was upset with him... because at least that was really him :(

originally, the two of them called deepfreeze domain "home." but that changed when g.u.n. came knocking on their door.

see, g.u.n. keeps tabs on anyone who forms a bond with a particularly strong wisp... for recruitment purposes, of course! and power is one such wisp--as it grants its partner temporary invulnerability. it's kind of like a super form, but without the chaos energy.

and so, seeing the potential in the young duo, g.u.n. demanded that they join the wisp races. but star's mom--this shatterspace's version of vanilla--didn't want her daughter involved in such a dangerous race, and she refused.

the thing about g.u.n., though, is that they don't really take "no" for an answer. so, they "disposed" of her... leaving star motherless, and very, very upset.

thankfully, syzygy heard the commotion and was able to rescue star and her wisp before they were snatched by the military. now, the three of them traverse space together, looking for a way to restore the planet to how it was before it broke in half, and before the wisp races ever existed.

after months of agonizing over it, he's finally here: the sonic variant from my original shatterspace! syzygy, or "ziggy," has a bad attitude, and no powers at all. that's right! after creating a sonic variant that's basically a god in terms of his power level, i've decided this one doesn't have any superspeed.

instead, he uses extreme gear to get around.

as for why he doesn't have a wisp... well, he used to, but it met an unfortunate end when he was still very young. since then, he became prickly and closed off. at least, that's what most people think.

in truth, the twist to his character is that he's the embodiment of sonic's "power of friendship." he's rescued several kids from certain death situations, and has formed his own little gang of superpowered loyalists. among these kids are this universe's cream, ray, and kit. more about them will come later...

also, something to note about this shatterspace: since the world is fractured in two, i figured it would only make sense for space to be like how it is in "treasure planet". so, there's breathable air up there. syzygy and his little friends spend most of their time traversing the cosmos, searching for a way to fix the planet--a goal that most people on earth have all but forgotten about.
