They drew her without flaws or faults With long shining hair no single strand astray A smile so beautiful that the stars couldn’t compare Skin as pale as the full moon in the night sky And eyes that held more brightness than diamonds
They forgot she was human that had scars just like us With split ends in her hair A crook in her smile Freckles on her skin And eyes that have witnessed pain
They made her think she was supposed to be perfect So she combed her hair through morning and night Practiced her smiles in the mirror all alone by herself Covered her freckles with powder that smelled weird And tried to cover the darkness in her eyes.
They had expectations She was human But she wanted to be the perfect that they saw.
