VERSE OF THE DAY:
MATTHEW 10:20
For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
YOU'LL NEVER SHARE THE GOSPEL ALONE
When Jesus sent His follower to share the good news of God's kingdom, He knew they'd face rejection. Some would listen. Others would turn away-even threaten or oppose them, So He gave this encouragement:
"…do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you."
MATTHEW 10:19-20
What a relief! Sharing the Gospel can feel intimidating. There is risk involved. What if the right words don't come? What if someone asks a question that's hard to answer? Jesus knew those fears and promised His Spirit would help.
Sharing Jesus isn't about trying to convince. It's not about control or perfect words. It's simple sharing your story of hope- hope that could change someone's eternity.
The Holy Spirit still speaks through ordinary people. God knows the person you're talking to. He knows their story, their questions, and their pain. Will you let Him use your story to reach them?
Has God comforted you, forgiven you, or helped you? Start there. Sharing what God has done for you can open the door for someone else to discover His amazing love.
You don't speak alone. The same Spirit who guided the first disciples is with you today- ready to give you courage, wisdom, and the words you need.
REFLECT
How will you share the Good News this week?
I'll listen first, then share my story.
I'll ask God for the night moment and words.
I'll trust the Holy Spirit to guide me,
SHARE YOUR FAITH
When you share the Good News, God's Spirit can speak through you. You don't need the perfect words- just a surrendered heart.
God, thank You for Your promise to speak through me. Give me the courage to share about what You've done in my life. Use my honest story, the victories and the struggles, to draw people to Yourself. I will follow Your lead. In Jesus' name, Amen.
DAILY BIBLE READING:
EZEKIEL 22-23
1 PETER 1
ISRAEL'S SHEDDING OF BLOOD
“Behold, I strike my hand at the dishonest gain that you have made, and at the blood that has been in your midst. 14Can your courage endure, or can your hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with you? I the Lord have spoken, and I will do it. “Son of man, say to her, You are a land that is not cleansed or rained upon in the day of indignation. 25The conspiracy of her prophets in her midst is like a roaring lion tearing the prey; they have devoured human lives; they have taken treasure and precious things; they have made many widows in her midst. 26Her priests have done violence to my law and have profaned my holy things. They have made no distinction between the holy and the common, neither have they taught the difference between the unclean and the clean, and they have disregarded my Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them. The people of the land have practiced extortion and committed robbery. They have oppressed the poor and needy, and have extorted from the sojourner without justice.
I have returned their way upon their heads, declares the Lord God.”
OHOLAH AND OHOLIBAH
I will commit the judgment to them, and they shall judge you according to their judgments. 25And I will direct my jealousy against you, that they may deal with you in fury. And they shall return your lewdness upon you, and you shall bear the penalty for your sinful idolatry, and you shall know that I am the Lord God.”
GREETING
To those who are elect exiles of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood:
May grace and peace be multiplied to you.
BORN AGAIN TO A LIVING HOPE
an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you. In this you rejoice, the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold, be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Concerning this salvation, the prophets searched and inquired carefully. It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you. things into which angels long to look.
CALLED TO BE HOLY
Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, 15but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, the living and abiding word of God, the word of the Lord remains forever.”
And this word is the good news that was preached to you.
JEREMIAH 25:4-11
SEVENTY YEARS OF CAPTIVITY
You have neither listened nor inclined your ears to hear, although the Lord persistently sent to you all his servants the prophets.
INSIGHT
The people of Judah were stubbornly unrepentant, persistently refusing to trust God and blatantly ignoring His warnings of punishment for their idolatry (Jeremiah 25:3-7). The Babylonians would turn their country into a desolate wasteland, and the people would be exiled to Babylon for seventy years (vv. 8-11). But God wouldn’t abandon them. He assured them of His presence and love: “Do not be afraid of the king of Babylon, . . . for I am with you and will save you and deliver you from his hands. I will show you compassion so that he will have compassion on you and restore you to your land” (42:11-12). Whatever situation we’re facing today, we can entrust ourselves to God, knowing that He loves us and is with us.

HOPE IN THE WAITING
Alida took a DNA test in 2020 and discovered a strong match to a man living on the opposite coast of the US. Later, she and her daughters found news articles from the 1950s that led them to conclude that the man was Alida’s long-lost uncle, Luis! He’d been abducted from a park in 1951 when he was six years old. That DNA test, taken seventy years after Luis’ disappearance, eventually led to a happy reunion with his biological family members. Alida said, “With [our] story out there, it could help other families . . . . I would say, don’t give up.”
Seventy years is a long time to keep hope alive. Jeremiah and the people of Judah must have been heartbroken and fearful when God said they would “serve the king of Babylon seventy years” (Jeremiah 25:11). But they hadn’t listened to God and turned from their “evil ways and . . . practices” (v. 5), which had deformed them into “an object of horror and scorn” (v. 9). The people were condemned more than thirty times in Jeremiah for not listening to Him. Seventy years might have felt like forever, but God would be with them, and He promised that the hard season would eventually end (29:10).
As we face challenging seasons that seem to go on and on, let’s remember that while we may struggle to trust God, He promises that He’s with us and loves us (30:11). As we listen to Him and wait expectantly, we can find hope.

REFLECT AND PRAY
How is it possible to endure difficult times? Where can you find comfort in God’s promises?
Loving God, please help me find hope in You. in Jesus' name, Amen.
THE CHOSEN AND FRIENDS: GOD WITH US
BE STILL
While the goal of this entry is for that passage from Luke 10 to leave a mark on your day, we need to start with another passage. In John 6, soon after Jesus has miraculously fed a crowd of thousands, he tells them that what they really need to do is feast on him (verses 25-65). It’s chiefly a nod to the sacrifice he’ll make in body and blood, but it’s also a nod to his teaching—the truths he lavishly offers to all who’ll listen. And do you remember what happened? Verse 66: “From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.” But remember, too, that the Twelve remain. And why their steadfastness? Peter sums it up powerfully: “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”
In most of the entries in our 30 days of seeing what Jesus reveals about God, we’ve taken our time to get to the grand reveal. But not today. We're going to drop the revelation right here in the middle.
Whether preached from mountaintops or across plains in plain-spoken parables, the words of Jesus have revealed themselves to be the only words that point to life in the eternal, while also having the power—when applied—to place life back on track in the here and now. All of this reveals a clarion truth: the words of God bring life. And that reveals another clarion truth: we should always give his words pride of place.
Which brings us back to Luke 10, and two sisters whose respective choices and subsequent actions contrast.
Martha spots the many needs that come with hospitality “done right,” so she chooses to serve, leaving the room over and over again to return to the kitchen. Mary, on the other hand, would rather not go anywhere other than the spot right at the feet of Jesus. Of Mary’s posture, Jesus offers a to-the-point—and quite pointed—verdict: “Mary has chosen what is better.”
To sit with God and hang on his every word is better.
It’s best.
Because we know what’s been revealed through the Son: the Father alone has the words of life.
LUKE 10:38
Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. 39And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching. 40But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” 41But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, 42but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”
