A lovely thanksgiving was had this year. It was the most relaxed day — we stayed in, lounged around, cooked and ate a lot, watched tv and movies. Callie’s face really says it all. In fact, B actually made a point of not wearing pants all day. This is the kind of thanksgiving he’s been dreaming of every year, I think. No travel, no drama, no pants.
We watched Happiest Season which was just released on Hulu the other day. It’s a SUPER cute and funny and endearing holiday movie, but not a gross romcom in the way that some romcoms can be. It was quirky and unexpected in some ways. Plus: Dan Levy. Need I say more?
We also finally picked out and ordered a cutesie space themed canvas to hang on the wall in the nursery. Not the one we originally were eyeing, but I like this one so much better. Can’t wait for it to get here!
The day started with bacon egg and cheese sandwiches on everything bagels. The day ended with a 12-lb turkey, which came out amazing, stuffing, green beans, and gravy, and the apple fritter cinnamon bun dessert I’d been dying to make again. So good. And so much turkey left over! I suppose that’s what happens when you cook an entire bird for two people.
We touched base with family throughout the day as well, which was nice. I kept having sweet little moments, thinking how next thanksgiving will be SO different in so many ways, and just trying to enjoy this year’s thanksgiving for what it is. All in all, it was a really nice cozy day, just the two (three!) of us. 🦃
