Nobody But You || Sophia & Carl || @112ounces
Sophia hastily tapped her foot on the ground, crushing the leaves beneath her boot. She looked at the sun, making sure for the third time that she had the time right. Knowing she did, she wondered what could have held him up. She missed him terribly. The days when she didn't get to sneak out to meet him in the woods between Alexandria and Hilltop were the longest days of her life.
They had been doing this for months, or maybe it was closer to a year really. She hid it from her Mom and the King. Even Henry hadn't seemed to have caught on, or if he did, he kept his mouth shut. She didn't think she'd like having a little brother, but now that she'd grown to love him, it was like he had always been there. Just like younger siblings, he sometimes got on her nerves and she often vented those frustrations to Carl.
Carl hadn't ever been late for one of their dates, and she got an overwhelming feeling in the pit of her stomach. Something had happened. And if it had, it would be all her fault. She knew these meetings were dangerous, and she didn't put reasonable thought above how much she loved him and needed to be with him. "Come on, Carl," she breathed softly. The tapping of her foot grew more and more nervous.
She heard a sound to her left. Her hand immediately went to her knife, but then she changed her mind and went for the pistol she carried on her side. "If you're alive, better show yourself if you don't want a bullet between your eyes," she warned. The sound wasn't that of a walker. Daryl had taught her well.
