Yes, we are in a serious #heatwave here in #arizona this week! I'm in #Tucson , which is usually about 5-10 degrees less than #Phoenix , thank heavens! Still, it was #115degrees a few days ago- making it impossible to be outside more than a few minutes at a time. And yet, we had swim meets to go to! Yay! Ok, this photo? It is of one of the #pricklypear mission #cactus in our yard. We have been overrun by #cochineal bugs the past few years. ( they make a beautiful #reddye that is valued by #fibers artists- I do occasionally collect the cochineal and process it for fiber friends but not this year... I'm over them! They are destroying my cactus! Argh!) anyhoo, I digress again... see the brown #cactuspads ? They are this way because of our #heat and dry climate... those critters don't help either! But damn, they make a pretty color when you squish them 😜 (at Tucson, Arizona)
