“Where did you get those bruises?” Eddie asked.

Buck groaned. “I’m jinxed or something. Missed a step on the stairs last night. Hit my head. All I wanted was a glass of water, and the universe yeeted me instead.”

“Are you serious? You could have a concussion.” Eddie stepped closer, taking Buck’s chin and tilting it to inspect the swelling near his brow, eyes full of concern. “You’re not jinxed, sweetheart. You just need to be more careful.”

They both froze.

Sweetheart.

Buck's heart raced, a flush quickly working up his neck. “Yeah. I-I will,” he said.

...Most likely a slip-up. Eddie had probably been thinking about Chris.

“Good,” Eddie said, still not letting go of Buck’s chin.

As a general rule, Tommy doesn't like to be blindsided, especially not when he's climbing out of a chopper.

"Okay, don't get mad," Evan calls out, a 40lb black dog in his arms. "His name's Ranger. He has three legs but he can walk, he just likes being held like a baby."

Tommy raises his eyebrows as Evan approaches.

"He wouldn't leave me at this call! He's like an outdoor cat. Everyone feeds him but does anyone love him?"

Tommy looks at Ranger, then Evan. "Do I need to stop at—"

Evan sighs happily. "Already got everything. Kiss your dog-son."

Tommy kisses Evan's birthmark. "No." 

Ranger licks his face anyway; the three of them were meant to be.

"Look what I've got!" Chim says, slapping the latest LAFD charity calendar down on the table. "Quite literally hot off the press."

Buck leaps up, snatching it and flicking through until he finds the page he's looking for.

"Hey!" Hen says, raising an eyebrow.

"Sorry, it's just…" He trails off when he reaches June, his mouth going dry at the expanse of tanned, glistening and familiar skin before him. "Oh my god."

"Oh damn, okay Tommy," Chim whistles, leaning over him.

"He's so freaking hot," Buck says, eyes wide. "I can't believe I get to have sex with him every night. Multiple times."

Eddie grimaces.

"Yeah, you know your inner monologue is supposed to stay inside your head?"

"Lie down," Buck instructs, "on the floor."

Eddie laughs. "The floor? What— why?"

"Just—" Buck flaps a hand, "— do it. You'll see."

And, it's Buck, so— Eddie lies down. Stretches out across Christopher's rug. "What now?"

"Close your eyes," Buck requests, so Eddie does.

The overhead light switches off, and a moment later Eddie feels the warmth as Buck splays out beside him.

"Okay, open."

Eddie blinks, and— oh. Stars, glow-in-the-dark ones, covering the ceiling. Stars, here in LA, because Christopher liked that he could see them in Texas.

"Buck," Eddie exhales.

"Think he'll like them?" Buck asks.

"He'll love them," Eddie says, laughs, "I love them."

His fingers find Buck's; they tangle and squeeze.

I love you.

Day 41 of @118dailydrabble - “Hostage”

Pairing: bucktommy | Mature (suggestive I think 😅) |

Buck was sprawled across Tommy’s chest grinning wickedly. “I’m keeping you hostage,” he declared, lacing their fingers together. “Two days. No interruptions. I’ve missed you, and I have needs.”

Tommy chuckled, the sound rumbling through Buck’s ear. “Is that so?”

Before Buck could answer, Tommy’s phone buzzed, Eddie’s name flashing on the screen. Buck poked Tommy’s ribs. “Uh-uh, nope. Hostage, remember? No calls from best friends trying to steal you away.”

Tommy laughed, pulling Buck closer and pressing a kiss to his curls. “You’re ridiculous.”

“Maybe, but I'm your ridiculous.”

“I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Tommy murmured.

Smiling, Buck started kissing down his chest, more determined than ever to keep his man exactly where he was.

“Truth,” Tommy says.

“How'd you propose to Abby?” Evan asks.

“The usual way. One knee, diamond ring. She cried.” Painfully boring, even at the time. He owes Evan something else. “I hated her. For not realizing what it was doing to me.”

Evan absorbs this. “I know it's different, and there was her mom, but… looking back, she was kind of self-centered, with me.”

“Well,” Tommy says, “she'd been through a bad breakup.”

Evan says softly, “It hurts when your partner’s too wrapped up in their own happiness to see you.”

Tommy swallows. “You don't owe me an apology.”

“I do,” Evan says. “I'm waiting till you're ready to hear it. Dare.”

“Kiss me again.”

Evan, smiling, does.

Buck shuffles into Tommy’s house after a long shift. He honestly has no idea how he made it home without falling asleep behind the wheel.

He hears commotion in the kitchen and drags himself in that direction to say a quick hello to Tommy — because he's tired, not rude — before his plan to crash on the couch.

Eyes bleary with tiredness, he wraps his arm around the figure at the stove and pulls him into a kiss.

Buck pulls away, eyes wide. Tommy doesn't kiss like that, all intense off the bat—

Wait.

“Donny, I found the reci— Evan?”

If that was Tommy, who was the imposter?

“Oh, the Evan? Mm, he does have luscious lips, bro.”

Prompt #58: Sink

There's a sudden hiss of pain, followed by a curse from Buck. Something clatters loudly into the kitchen sink, startling the sleeping baby in Maddie's arms.

For a moment, she's busy soothing him and when she looks up, Tommy is at Buck's side. She watches as Tommy gently takes Buck’s injured hand, turns it this way and that, being quick but thorough in his examination, reminding Maddie that he, too, is a medically-trained first responder.

And it’s not just the unexpected tenderness that makes her smile fondly, it’s not just Tommy focusing his whole attention on Buck. It’s the way her brother holds still in a very uncharacteristic bout of patience and lets Tommy take care of him.
