Thinking about how they had to marry off both Amy and the Doctor to keep them from getting together

I love each companion and their relationship with the doctor:

Rose: the love of his life. The first companion he met after the time war who truly made him feel alive again. Who showed him the good in the universe again. Even hundreds of years later he still loves her and she’s still in his hearts.

Martha: someone who first fancied him, but then became a friend. She was his rebound and he treated her poorly, but she did care about him and he cared about her.

Donna: his best friend in the entire universe. She was there to put him in line, to hold him accountable. She saved his life by being his friend. She also gave him a hand to hold and seemed to truly understand him and see him as he was.

Amy: the first family he gained after the loss of his species. Being Amy’s imaginary friend and meeting her as a little child, means he always saw her as that. She was his Amelia Pond and he was her raggedy man. She was the first face that face saw. Almost a parental relationship, but definitely a familial one. She had so much blind faith in him, seeing him only as her imaginary friend, that the doctor had to break that faith to save her life. Even after they finally saw each other as they truly were, they could never quite let go of each other.

Clara: his soulmate. The person he loved and was in love with, but could never find himself to say it. His duty of care. The person he’d destroy the universe for. Their love was so deep and they relied on each other so much, that they became toxic and co dependent. (Almost a reverse of ten and Donna). The control freak and the man who should never be controlled, truly a perfect match made to drive the doctor mad.

Bill: his adopted granddaughter. She was a mentee of his, someone who he wanted to show the wonders of the universe to. He took her in because he liked her curiosity and filled the gap her mother had left.
