Experience the Tough Choices of Frostpunk 2 City-Survival Game

Frostpunk 2 city-survival game supposedly works on Steam Deck and Linux via Proton with Windows PC. Thanks once again for the creative talents behind developer 11bit studios. All due to making its way onto Steam, GOG, and Humble Store. Just like players have to make tough choices in Frostpunk 2, the developers have made a hard call to delay the game’s release to September 20th. This extra time will help them deliver the best possible experience when it launches this fall. Here’s what Design Director Jakub Stokalski and Art Director Lukasz Juszczyk shared in a Steam post: "Based on the feedback from our Beta, you rated us an average of 8 out of 10. We’re grateful! But it was just a small part of our still-growing game. We took your feedback seriously, noting what worked and what didn’t. This feedback helped us prioritize better and focus on features and changes we were already working on. However, we realized we need more time to finish the title properly. That’s why we decided to postpone the release to September 20th, 2024." Plus we also have more Frostpunk 2 details on how the city-survival is due to evolve:

From what I recall the game is running on Steam Deck, it's not optimized etc.

The 11bit studios team mentioned in an email that there are plans to support Steam Deck and Linux via Proton. They believe it should generally work, but it's still far from being "verified." Right now, they're unsure if the dev team has the time to focus on that build. But it is looking hopeful since the team is using Unreal Engine 5. Now, this new work includes updates to game mechanics, major UI and UX improvements, and also a new city feature called Zoom Stories. You can find more details in their full statement.

Shaping the Future The Research Institute is where you decide your city’s future. Every new project needs to be trusted to a faction, so you’ll have to form strategic alliances.

Epic Story or Endless Sandbox Frostpunk 2 offers a multi-chapter saga in the city-survival frozen wastelands. While the sandbox mode lets you experiment freely. All those interested can also pre-order on Steam and GOG. Priced at $44.99 USD / £37.99 / 44,99€. But it is also coming to Humble Store. Due to be playable on Linux and Steam Deck via Windows PC. While this is all good news, there are still more details to evolve for platform support. Since 11bit studios are hyper-focused on development.
