this is one of my strangest points of praise for mount&blade, but it's hard to find any other game that gives you quite the same feeling as the one you get when you're in the middle of a siege and scrounging around in all the corpses hoping to find a shield

you know how there's legacy products that kinda kick around after their formula is updated, a sort of worse version of something that already isn't very good, but which still exists because sometimes someone spent long enough with it that they get an inexplicable craving to have something worse

anyway I've spent the past few days thinking about those fucking awful php webgames with the prototypical energy systems that are just timers on everything, and I've been thinking, they're not good, but we don't always eat what's best for us. or what actually tastes good. or what still exists.

Sometimes you just have to do things for yourself

I used to read at what I'd call 'voracious' levels, i'm talking a novel a week back in highschool. 400 pages small text. In senior year I borrowed a comic book (I think it was Preacher? I liked & still like edgelord shit) from a friend to cool off. A Fof that sat at our same lunchtable chided me for reading a comic instead of a thick book with small text, and said that was 'baby reading'.
