Body – Ibridazione 2, 1997. Performance, durata 12’.
L’opera Body – ibridazione 2, appartiene ad una serie di comportamenti che chiamo ibridazioni, nel quale sono protagonista insieme ad un’altra entità: in questo caso vegetale. L’insalata impiegata nel lavoro (tra le immagini la busta di sementi modificata e utilizzata come cartolina invito) viene definita “lattuga da taglio. Bionda a foglia riccia, selezione Leda”. Sembra che si parli di una donna, bionda a foglia riccia… proprio la selezione Leda mi ha fatto pensare al gesto ibrido in Leda e il cigno, esposto nei Musei Capitolini.
Per circa un mese ho lavorato una porzione di terreno, dissodandolo, seminandovi dell’insalata e abbeverando con una miscela di acqua e sangue, il mio sangue. Questa fase di lavoro è riassunta in un video, in cui il pubblico può vedere mentre io mangio l’insalata.

The work Body – ibridazione 2, belongs to a series of behaviors that I call hybridisations, in which I am the protagonist along with another entity: in this case vegetal. The salad used in the work (between images the bag of modified seeds used as a postcard invitation) is called “cutting lettuce. A blond curly leaf, selection Leda.” It seems that there is talk of a woman, a blonde curly leaf ... the Leda selection made me think of the hybrid gesture Leda and the Swan, displayed in the Capitoline Museums.
For about a month I have been working a piece of land, turning it over, sowing the salad and mixing it with water and blood, my blood. This phase of work is summarised in a video in which the public can watch me eat the salad.
