She was trying to dodge people, doing her best not to get caught in anyone’s small talk, because she could never resist the urge to roll her eyes when someone went on and on about how their trip to four had been the week before, or just how terrible the attacks were, she just couldn’t listen to it anymore, but there seemed to be a person in every corner of this building. 

She settled on the quietest looking one, flopped down onto one of the fancy sofas they had with a huff. “When do you think they’ll let us the fuck out of here?”

Luca was nervous about this, about eventually running into Colette after leaving her stood outside a restaurant before disappearing to twelve for a while. He was definitely nervous, wringing his hands as he scanned the room for her, because at least if he could prepare himself, maybe he wouldn’t say something stupid.

That didn’t work, because as he spun around to face the opposite direction, he realised she was standing right behind him, and maybe he muttered “fuck” a little too loudly. “Uh- you, uh-- you look incredible”

Unsurprisingly, Abel had drank too many of the cocktails on offer already, even though the night was still young. He’d gotten over the fact that they were brought to this unknown location by train by drink number five, and he’d managed to mask the fears and anxiety of the rebellion most likely failing by drink number eight. 

Now, all he was focused on was dancing. “At least they’ve got good music, right?” he grinned.

“Do you want something, Clementine?” Dale asked in a flat tone, because he could see her in the corner of his eye, and he really wasn’t in the mood for anyone today, let alone Clementine, and her annoyingly positive nature.

Luca was definitely not drinking another but beer for this ball. He had planned to show his face, and leave before he had to see Colette, but now they were all out here together, with the same way home, so that plan went down the drain.

He sipped on his beer slowly, leaning against the bar. “Did they tell you a time when this thing would be over?”

Abel slid up next to Cade in what he assumed was a graceful move, but really, he’d spilled some of the liquid from his glass onto the floor, and a curl had gone astray and was now hanging down the middle of his forehead. “I hear you were in my house” he smirked, wondering just what Cade and Everett had gotten up to.

“Are they still playing that mind numbing song in there?” Saph asked, leaning back against the cold wall on the outside of the building they had all been dragged to tonight. She usually snuck out of these things early, with a stolen bottle of something, and sometimes a boy, but there was no chance of that now, she had to wait for the train, along with the rest of the tower’s finest. This was going to be a long night. And she was already fucking bored.

He spotted Asher hiding in a corner and dragged himself over, stumbling all the way until he found himself right up in his face, misjudging just a little. “Hello” he sang, smiling, even though there was nothing to smile about. “You look nice all dressed up, if I had’ve known the theme was so dark, I wouldn’t have worn pink” he explained in a jumble of words without taking a breath, laughing at himself then.
